Hello Everyone,
I had an important SEO question for everyone regarding 404 errors and redirects.
I have a website that I am trying to rank in google. Shortly after having put it live, I noticed that I was ranked on the first page, however the page was bringing me randomly to a 404 page on my site..
The webpage is using wordpress and was installed using "example" content. well.. all i needed where a few pages so i deleted alot of the pages i didnt need causing the page google was refering to read back as a 404.
in the efforts to direct traffic to the correct homepage, I applied a 404 redirect plugin so people can get to where they would need to be.
well now. my page is nowhere to be found. im not sure if it was the redirect causing this but its the only thing i could think of. can anyone enlighten me on the subject? thanks!
