    Hello guys,

Okey so I have a website about home security/surveillance systems and im getting around 400visitor each day and around 1500page views. What I need help with is how do I make people sign up for my newsletter so I can start promote via email as well. Right now im using a getresponse sign up on the site that just say "sign up for latest news from bla bla" and for the last 6months maybe 20 people have signed up...lol

What can I offer or do to make people sign up for my newsletter? Should I buy a plr ebook and offer it for free in exchange for an email?

    Ok that's an easy one.

Create a short ebook about home security/surveillance. For best results, the book must be high quality, as it can also help you greatly with sales.

You have to give the ebook for free, and of course make it sound very attractive. You know your niche best, but be creative. Something like "Top 13 Security mistakes that let robbers in your house" (the fear of loss is far greater than the potential gain, use this in your advantage)

Inside the ebook include as many graphics as possible. If you make statements like "It's better to install cameras with high degree lens (I dont even know if there is something like this), then the "SecurityCamera Model X312" (hyperlink back to your website. high ticket item) IS THE OPTIMAL SOLUTION. If, however, your budget is lower, the NotSoGoodSecurity Camera Model C55 is also a great choice, but it won't have night vision.

This will get traffic back to your website, and increase micro-commitment. When you do this, people spend more on your website, and get to know your brand better. There is this old study that a customer needs to meet your brand about 7 times before they make a buying decision. I don't know if it's true, but it totally makes sense.

Do not spam the ebook with tons of links. If you are giving away 13 methods of something (use odd numbers for methods, people believe more in odd numbers), then do not make more of 3 methods advertorial (linking to products). The more value you give here, the easier it will be to close the clients later on.

In your email series - In the first 2 weeks email them daily (At least this works for me, some people call it spam). In the first 4-5 days try to not sell anything, but give pure value to the customer. After day 6 you can gently start selling, and later on you can make more aggressive sales approach.
Do not forget to segragate your lists from people who just opt-in, and people who have bought from you. This can make a huge difference.

You can also hire a professional email marketer to help you with all of this.

    Good luck!

Thanks for that informative answer. With the layout you stated, what sign up rate could you expect from 400 visitor a day? And you say to email everyday for the first week or so, but what should i email them about? What i do now is that i post on my website then i email my list and letting them know about the new post.

The opt-in rate could be as low as <1% to 10% and more. There are plenty of variables like where your traffic is coming from? (In case you get paid traffic, you can work solely on building a list).

It also depends HOW appealing the offer is (the free ebook or whatever free you are giving in exchange for an email).

If your traffic is organic, it's really important how you market the email opt-in, and where would place it. Hit me up on Skype, if I'm free tomorrow I can have a look (ONLY OP!). My skype is the same as my username.

Nobody can give you exact estimations of opt-in rates just like that.

YoMoneyMaker has given you some solid advice there, take it all into consideration.

What I would like to add is after you got the perfect "gift" for your visitors to opt-in then you should consider methods and tools that actually let them see the option to opt-in.

You could have a tempting gift that is perfect for your target audience and most of them would love to grab it but don't they have to see it first?

Make sure your opt-in box (assuming it's in the sidebar) isn't just some grey lines of text with some grey boxes. Make it look appealing and kinda stand out from the sidebar.

Don't be afraid to ask. It's a viable option to merely suggest that your readers should opt-in for their free gift as well as all the great information they will receiving every now and then. The could be in the middle of posts or at the end.

A popup. Not an annoying popup that makes you want to leave the website right away. Again, an appealing design that tells them what you're offering if they sign up. If you're using a wordpress site there are many great plugins that can get this done easily.

Always make your offer sound like something that would benefit them greatly but don't oversell it. These people are going to join your list that you should nature and take great care of so you don't want them unsubscribing right after the first email because they didn't get what you promised them.

I think YoMoneyMaker's example "Top 13 Security mistakes that let robbers into your home" is a great one. It would definitely appeal to your target audience and they might feel as if they're in danger just because they haven't read that ebook. I agree with the idea of using odd numbers and maybe a lower number would actually benefit your niche more because I might not believe that there are actually 13 things that I'm doing wrong but what about 3? Oh shit let me get this before I get robbed.

Get some kinda call to action. Where when the user scrolls down the page, to a certain point, a popup comes up and asks them if they want to subscribe for more.
Or you can have a red bar at the top, asking if they want to subscribe. The color alone makes it stand out, so you should get more people looking at it, and thinking if they should subscribe. But make sure you offer something in return. Free guide/ebook or w.e

Allright guys, I actually bought a plr guide awile back thinking about offering it to my readers in exchange for their email, and after reading YoMoneyMaker i decided to take some action. So the last 2 hours ive created a offer they cant resist so lets see how it goes.

I hear you bro about having a pop-up but i cant stand them myself so i dont wanna do that to my readers either.

I will report back here when i got some more data. My current sign up rate is 60000 impressions and 29 sign ups, which is 0.05% who sign up...lol

    Quick Update,

Right now I have a sign up form saying "sign up for our newsletter and get this ebook for free", but its been 3 days now without a sign up. The sign up form is a 300x300 widget with rainbow colored text so it really stands out and a pic of the ebook. Around 1000 people should have seen this form by now, but they seem not to wanna sign up. All traffic comes from search engines.

Could it be my offer is not good enough? Maybe i need to offer them something more useful, but what?

    Please share your ideas guys!

I wouldn't discount a popup unless you test. I thought the same but didn't see a higher bounce rate and increased my signups with one. Also added email signup on FB tab.
