Hey, I used an email list (uploaded to gmail) I had to invite people as friends to a FB account yesterday. +/- 500 emails, 400 had a FB account on it, the rest received the invitational email. After a minute, 10 of them accepted and boom. It stopped. Not one of the remaining 400 has accepted the request since then.

It shouldn't be even considered blackhat, since I know who these people are (although I don't know 99% of them personally:)) and I'm adding them to invite them to a group that should be of interest to them - and has nothing to do with selling anything, or making money any other way, ever :)

possible problems that I've thought of:
1) it's mostly girls 15-16yrs (some kind of FB protection? Don't know..)
2) they don't have mutual friends with the profile
3) the profile is new (although I tried something similar in a lesser scale with an aged account later and the success rate was even lower)

Three of the 10 sent a message asking who I am and when I explained why I added them, they all accepted. But still. Did facebook somehow null my requests after a few people denied them, or?....

Under 18 does add some 'protections'.

Do they show under friends as 'pending requests'? If not they didn't go through. Not everyone would have denied your request that fast and if they did, plenty would have check that they have no idea who you're and got your account deleted.

only about 5 people are under "pending requests".. but that's weird since I got the message that friend request has been sent to 4** people or something... I'll try that with a list of people over 18, but still.. any idea what (besides the age) could have caused that?

I am not sure I understand your issue. If you are wondering if your friends requests were someone cancelled that is not the case. People likely denied your request to be friends. There is not a "age" filter in the spam prevention technique but it certainly applies to the friends you are inviting. If you invite too many via e-mail, Facebook will limit your account and request you to phone verify it. Expect more and more verification methods to be rolled out. Trust me, I know this.

I still can't believe that 400 out of 410 girls would deny a friend request from a good looking young boy without even asking. I myself send a message to anyone who requests friendship. Since there's only like 5 people marked "friend request pending", it really seems the requests didn't get through. But why did they get filtered.. Does anyone even pull this invite-strangers-by-email thing off anymore?

I've never worked with the under 18 market on facebook...but I've been importing fine in facebook with other markets. I populate accounts with 3,000+ friends in about a week by linking to yahoo/gmail/homtail/etc...

I have been having close to the same results. I first was taking a few new accounts and sending in my contact list...then only taking the one that were actually on facebook and creating a Facebook list... and putting the ones that didn't have a fb account into a different file. I did this for a few days till I have several thousand fb members.

I first started sending in 500 at a time, (500 in and 500 out - meaning all were members), I do noticed that I didn't have many pending requests out. I'm thinking they may notice the amount and only send out XXX many. I have since only do 100 a day and have seen better results. Though I have not only tested this on a different account.

Any one else have any input?

Tried adding 50 from gmail today, all over 18yrs.
39 had a FB account
39 requests (supposedly) sent.
6 pending requests show in my friends list.

that's just... wrong :)

The upload file method doesnt work well. I have tested it. I know a different method that you can send bulk requests too that works!! Send me your email :)

Ok, now I've noticed almost all the emails I tried to invite ended up in the "Contacts Imported (not yet invited)" category, which proves that facebook didnt send out my invites. There doesn't seem to be any other option than deleting those contacts on the page.

but why do my contacts keep ending here instead of being invited, although facebook keeps telling me they WERE invited?
