$400/hr flipping car parts

You could quickly build a business just keeping injectors in inventory. Then market yourself as a fuel injection salvage specialist to the auto repair shops. I used to be in the auto repair business and we ran into specialists for this all the time.

1. find out what parts pay the most and have high profit margins
2. go dig yourself and see if you can actually find them
3. once you get an idea, hire some people to get them for you and pay a few bucks for each part

You damn skippy it can! AND DOES! I stop at every thrift store I pass (if I have some spare time) Can always seem to make a quick $20 no matter what, even if it is just looking for antique books. And for this reason alone my blackberry is my best friend

You could sell one specific part of a car say for instance specialise in alternators, before long you would soon realise which alternators were more sought after than others.

Eventually you would be known as a specialist with this part, you could sell them not just on Ebay but locally as well, even garages might buy from you.

Here is a slight twist. Watch the papers in your local area for old European cars that may be barely running or not at all. BMW's work good for this. Something you can pick up for 5-700 dollars at most. The parts tend to sell higher for European cars.

It will not give you a full time income but you can recover your money and be in profit quickly. Of course, you need tools, a storage area and have to like tinkering with cars.

FYI - at least in my state (washington), this is highly illegal.

Parting out/Selling/Reselling any used part is illegal. I've got years of experience in the auto industry in this state and seen more than a couple people get fined 1000s from the state on top of court/lawyer fees.

If you ramp this up on anything but a small scale, you will be noticed here and have to deal with the law, they do it to track stolen parts here. At least, if you plan to ramp this up, check the legalities in your state.

FYI, in my experience, wrecking yards are the big pushers for this, they invest huge into their licenses and yards, when they find out that anyone is doing what they do without a license, they go apeshit.

I do this for fun/$ with my brothers and inlaws. Search for Harry's U Pull it. One of or maybe the biggest junk yard i think. That's where i go to most of the time. Good money i must say. It definitely replaces a J-O-B if you do it right.

My friend owns the tow yard and body shop here where we live he is to busy to mess with the wrecks that are out behind his shop he know about ebay.He lets me out there to pull parts and sell what I can and we split it.It is a time issue.
