4 years wasted for nothing

4 years ago I started IM and I earned some money promoting dating offers on Facebook but after 3 months Facebook changed algorithm and the method died. After that I started SEO but never made more than spent. Always buying links and articles and results close to zero.
I feel like im wasting my life and money on internet for nothing trying to make good money, while my friends working offline and enjoying their life.
4 years of my life passed and I'm 4 years back. Now I don't think it gonna change anything in my life if I will keep working on the internet and I'm sure 99% here only spending money and their time trying to be successful.

Better go find offline job or do offline business instead of spending money and time for nothing on internet.

It is much better to work 12 hours a day offline for 80 euro instead of trying on IM to make some money but 99% of times you will waste your time and money.

If you really was working past 4 years it will be easy for you to get offline job based on your past years experience, .e.g. if you was doing social marketing get offline job as social campaigns manager ... i got multiple offline job offers based on my online expereince as developer and marketer ... so nothing wasted actually you got bachelor degree of IM in that 4 years but based on experience not based on exams ....

I vote we open a therapy section.

Sorry to hear that's been your experience friend. I'm currently finding that not be true at all though and I'm just starting out. I should clarify that I mean I'm just starting to take action but I have in fact read this whole forum front and back over the years. One thing I noticed is that I started out by gravitating to the Making Money sections of the forum because I wanted to find a newbie friendly easy money method like everyone else. What I've learned since then is that the making money section is probably the worst section to frequent if you actually want to make money since it's filled mostly with either people asking how to make money or some guys that are sharing a method because it's either saturated or they're about to move on to something else.

Some of the best gems I've found have been in random threads that I've came across with less than 3 replies. I literally am doing the method I'm doing right now because I came across some random ass thread where some dude mentioned a youtuber who had a very small following but put out content that he could make major money on if he was willing to sell himself out and become a "guru". Another goldmine I came across was literally guy 1: "Hey guys I came across this thing thought I'd share it." and guy 2 saying, "shut the fuck up and keep that shit to yourself". I'm paraphrasing as I don't want to draw attention to it but it was literally a fucking goldmine.

All in all I've searched far and wide on the internet for IM strats and methods. I have over a million karma on reddit and know more people there than I do in real life and I will say there's not a more central resource for information on IM than there is here at BHW. Not only that but there's a lot of people here who are willing to share information and help other people. In the last 2 weeks alone I've probably added over 20 people just from this forum to Skype.

I don't know why I decided to respond to this in such a lengthy way but I think part of it lies in the fact that I have a bit of loyalty to this forum and while your experience might be typical of an average users experience, it's certainly not typical for the people that take the time to appreciate it for what it is and really take in the resources here.

This too! I literally reached out to a guy that owned an SEO company earlier this week just to network with him a bit and he offered me a job over the phone based on what we talked about. I turned it down but it just goes to show that if you know your stuff people that know their stuff will see that and be willing to hire you.

What do you do for a living? I spam dating offers on Facebook. LOL. Seriously? Go get a job

Making money and getting freedom at the same time isn't meant to be easy. If you have spent 4 years trying to make money with IM and have not succeeded then the best thing to do is assess how the decisions you made were wrong and make radically-different decisions.

I'm not saying this to criticise you, I have been in a similar situation where I spent a long time working on a project that cost me $xx,xxx and didn't deliver a cent. I wasted years and a lot of investment.

But if you stop there and give up then it just reflects on you not understanding why you "wasted time". It's either because what you chose to try to do was wrong, or because the way you tried to do it was wrong.

Also no time is wasted if you learn from it. Persist and you will find new ways to make money, but not if you don't change your thinking.

Realise that your decisions are the only reason that you didn't make money. Not Facebook. Not IM. And with a reframing of your perspective, there are a lot of ways that within one month you could make enough money to be happy without having to slave 12 hours in a normal job.

Better to do both, IM is like buying a lottery ticket. Don't kid yourself, it's tough and takes alot of guts and determination to stick with it. There are alot of very successful people on here. All it takes is just one big idea. Don't quit your day job. Good/best luck to all!

And I’m proud of you!

You didn’t give up for 4 years! That’s already impressive! You not giving up is already success to me and many others!

And it’s perfectly fine if you fail. You’re more experienced now!

You know what failure is like and most of us can relate. People who do nothing don’t get that experience.

I beat myself up more than you realize. I felt the same exact way but eventually changed my mindset.

The first time was tough.
The second time felt rocky.
The third time was pure confidence.
The fourth time broke me.

IT SUCKS! If Bitcoin was a person, it probably felt the same way when it was created.

No matter how many times we strive for success in life, the opportunities that we create for ourselves can lead you into a better path!

The choice is yours:

• Giving up and hating yourself even more in 10 years for not doing anything.
• Make your 80 euros a day + invest in a side project

And I absolutely agree that having a job during your journey is necessary if your life is unstable.

I appreciate that we’re lucky enough to be able to open many doors of opportunities. Why?

If you read the journeys on BHW, not many people are fortunate enough like us:

• A blogger living in Venezuela trying to achieve success with barely any electricity + money to invest in a website.
• A blogger living in a basement.
• People growing up without resources and still become successful.

It’s damn inspirational...

So are you going to quit or not? Because you said nothing will change but then you said nothing works on the internet.

THE problem is you and others expect a quick buck and while it might work for a short time like your facebook ads you don't learn to leave while your ahead and move into the next "hot" thing. Instead you rather jump from project to project invest some time and see nothing, call it a day and move on. As soon as you start relying on a platform or a tool to bring in your income you are in a risky situation.

Unless you get good at the quick hits and can recognise when to leave your always going to fail. You would have been better off investing them 4 years into making something work than hopping around topic to topic, niche to niche and claiming "IM" don't work.

Or you could invest 10% of your income in a compounding interest account. The average US income is $59k, investing $5.9k yearly (10%) with compounding interest of 8% would make you a millionaire in 33 years.

I work in IM because I have to quit my job and come back to my city (where I can't find any company that need my skills) and because I live in a third world country so it is good for me with the income from IM. If you live in Euro or USA, I think better to get an offline job.

HIRE SOMEONE to write an attractive resume and start applying for offline jobs.

Doubt you worked for 4 years.

That's a LONG time. If you were doing 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for 4 years, that's 17520 hours.

In that time did you learn about copywriting? Funnels? Tracking? Segmenting? LTV? Frontend funnels? Backend funnels? Email funnels? What can you tell me about keyword density for SEO? What's the max ideal kw density for pairs and trips?

What's more likely is that you started the odd site, bought a few articles and a few link packages on bhw and hoped for results. That isn't work. I could order 100k words of content and buy a few link packages in 48 hours. Job done. What's next? What about the other 17518 hours?

I'm not saying this to put you down. I'm saying this to give you a reality check, that if you REALLY want to crush it in business, you can. But you have to take it ultra seriously.

There's endless ways to make money.

Go make 100 cold calls per day selling facebook ads services for 6 months and then tell me if you're still poor after 6 months. Almost no one could do that. And 100 is low. You can do 200-300 if you're really focused and you spend 12 hours a day doing calls, and 6 hours preparing your lists.

Also, something you said stands out.

That you were "wasting time" while others are enjoying life.

Entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs because we would rather be running our companies than out "enjoying life" with friends. When I'm in my 80's looking back and I'm not going to wish I'd spend my time down at the pub making fart jokes with my "buddies". If that's enjoying life, go for it.

I don't know how much is the interest in your country but in mine it's average is 1-2% so i took that option out.

Do something else. You only tried Facebook Dating offers and SEO? Try to do something different. There are thousands of ways to make money. Don't be scared to do something that is not really whitehat either etc... In these 4 years, by now, you should realistically have saved lots in your bank.
