4 Years layoff SEO HELP

So have been on this site 4years but have just recently returned after a massive layoff and am still in the newbie stage


I've been trying to learn SEO and have read a lot into it but I've got a question;

to rank a keyword for my website with 10k average monthly searches, can i simply make more dof0llow backlinks than my competitors whilst posting some articles on a web 2.0 platform with my website as a backlink in the article?

i mean it shouldn't be so hard to rank a keyword with 10k monthly searches i've been told, and one of my competitors for the front page of G has less than 30 backlinks; so if i out backlink him then I get his spot i assume, or is there more to it?

I don't want to laugh but I might just. First step you should take is to learn about SEO, learn the basics first, there are countless of websites where you can learn the basics, just don't take everything at face value. After you know the basics of how this ''SEO thing'' works, you can then start learning about PBNs.

It will take hundreds even thousands of hours to learn and understand, if you are not ready, then don't even start because you will just waste your time.

Think I've just worded that wrong is that's what you mean? thanks for the comment though mate you're right I do need to do a lot of reading

4 years ago all you needed to make huge gains in SEO was a copy of SeNuke, a content spinner, and a high PR EMD domain. I used to rank 10k monthly searches in the top 10 for less than $25 and a few hours of work.

Today its more about manual link building and content. In short its gotten more time intensive and expensive. PBNs, multi-page web2.0s, bribed Authority links... this is the game now and what used to cost $5 to rank is now more like $250 and a lot more work.

Yeah that's exactly how I remembered it, buying a scrapebox and a SeNuke and you were away but it seems things have changed like you say.

Do you have any advice on my question, I'm thinking if I have more backlinks than my competitor and maybe create a few social profiles as I hear they're beneficial then I'd outrank him?
I'm currently studying on PBN's but no idea if they're needed to rank a 10k avg search keyword?

1 high authority backlink can beat 3000 low-quality backlinks. Google still relies on backlinks, but it's no longer based solely on volume (which was something that was true in the past). You need good content, you need social media shares and you need credible sites from within your industry to link to you.

You can't build links very fast anymore. Google is highly sensitive to fast link velocity increases. Fewer of higher quality links are the way to begin. Then ramp up everything slowly.

The specifics depend on budget and the niche.

Thanks have already looked at this actually mate but it provides some useful advice with regards to staying under the radar and having a mix of d0follow and n0follow so as not to look suspicious, think ill do the same; do you agree thats the way to go?

This is what I was looking for mate thankyou, seems its quality over quantity these days and having a varied range which I will be trying to concentrate on. How easy do you think 10k monthly search, would be to rank?
There is only a wiki that I think isn't 'out rankable' the rest are blogs and a few websites with low backlinks.

Cheers man it's my first SEO project so I wanted something relatively easy where I could learn, do you think 10k avg month search is relatively easy? I'll be focusing on getting a variety of backlinks both d0 and nof0llow, getting authority links and constantly doing a small amount each day so it doesn't flag anything from G.

Yep starting with onsite optimization is allways the best way.

yeah, it's a automated program. Manual Link Building is better it all depends what your trying to exactly do.
