320 million crypto hack

One of the most popular bridges linking the ethereum and solana blockchains lost more than $320 million Wednesday afternoon in an apparent hack.

It is DeFi’s second-biggest exploit ever, just after the $600 million Poly Network crypto heist, and it is the largest attack to date on solana, a rival to ethereum that is increasingly gaining traction in the non-fungible token (NFT) and decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems.

hahaha that's funny. I hate reading about these hacks though because I like DeFi and this is the kind of stuff that will keep people away and make it hard for the space to grow.

When big hacks happen I am always curious how the hacker managed to pull it off. In this case (if anyone cares):

money is not safe online i think

If it's on the blockchain, I wonder how the thieves kept it from being traced? I mean lose 1 ETH no one will lift a finger, but $320mm would be interpol, 3-letter agency worthy I think.

And, then how would they off-ramp that much money? Seems crazy and I hope there are follow-up stories on the outcome

I believe that this will become a new common thing.. It's only the beginning!
My personal beliefs is that there's something bigger behind it, meaning perhaps the government or anything like that his role in this. Perhaps to make it crypto " unsafe " as the banks are not making a lot of profits from this.
But this is not just my only personal opinion.
