A quick question:

if I purchase an expired domain on godaddy auctions, does it have to be in the same niche to show great results? For example: I purchased a old video game developer's website (million dollar company but it was 302'd to their new site) would this have any positive affect on my gaming service business website?

32 DA
43 PA

any advice would be appreciated. I took all precautions before purchasing the domain: checked archive, index, rank for EMD, drops, BL profile.

Many links from authority websites

or should I just keep it in my PBN for the 1 blog post that i'll make for my moneysite

Its always better to have same niche domain but different niche domains also works with 301 redirects.

does the 301 basically transfer authority?

No it does not have to be in the same niche to show great results - it might help a little but I can't say that many of my PBN domains were specifically related to my money sites. I just re-theme the domain with content that is relevant to my niche - normally between 5 and 15 posts with lots of internal linking as I see this as telling Google what this site is now about.

Buy the domain, add it to your PBN and move on to the next one.
