301 to web 2.0site does it work?

I have currently 301ed a couple of domains that was ranking on page 1 of google to some squidoo lenses and waiting to see if it results in any ranking improvements for the lenses.

( the sites I have 301ed were all hit by a google -50 on the same day so they are clearly penalized so I am trying to see if the sites I have 301ed to "get" the penalty or just the link juice or nothing at all)

has anyone tried this? My thinking is that its much better economics to build the links to a domain you own because if the web 2.0 like squidoo in this example deletes your page you can always kill the 301 and replace it to another site.

Can't say I've tried it before but i'd be slightly concerned that there would be no turning back after you've done something like this because you can't 301 a lense as far as I'm aware?

You can remove a 301 in Google's eyes by removing the 301 and then having G recrawl the original URL. The general consensus is that the 301 will pass on link juice but not penalty. I have not tried it.
