Hi, is it safe to 301 redirect from a old domain that has received a -40 penalty from G to a new domain? Penalty was received for low quality content.

I have tried it with only good side effects :), it wont pass the penalty to the new domain

and you can still use it for backlinking to pass link juice to the new domain

Are you sure? Can anyone else confirm this? Want to be sure before redirecting to my new site.

Many people believe that 301 redirect wouldn't transfer penalties (some think vice versa) but I wouldn't risk that considering the fact that the old domain was penalized and it is enough to keep away from it.

Yes as a super newbie in BHW and in seo almost five months ago (now i'm just a newbie not super newbie :p) i created a website it started climbing slowly in serps i got impatient and i blasted it directly with scrapebox then BOOM my precious site was in page 21 of google results!

I designed a new one with a new domain, used redirect 301 from the banned domain to the new and as result i a really big boost to the new domain :). I still use the old domain to create backlinks to my new domain :)

Also consider this, i create a brand-new domain and i blast it with all kinds of porn scrapebox links, xrumer etc and it gets a penalty then i use redirect 301 to my competitor site you think that my competitors site should be penalised?if it worked like that then that would be an awesome way to penalty our competitors.

    Why take the risk?

I've read on some big SEO blogs that it IS possible to get a penalty this way.

Obviously, I've never tried it so I can't tell you from any personal experience.

But as far as I know, when a domain expires and is then newly registered, sometimes the Big G hits the 'reset' button for everything like penalties, PR, backlinks and rankings...and sometimes it does not.
