301 Redirect

Hi all,

Need some advice and guidance. From what i know expired domains are bought before they are released to public for purchase. While browsing expired domains, i notice few expired domains of 2-4 years old already been released for public purchase.

When i further check, this domains still have backlinks of few hundred to few thousands and page authority of 25-35. My question is, does buying this domain and doing a 301 to fresh domain would be advantage?

Please share your views.

- don't have spammy backlinks

But as above, profile needs to be clean.

Be careful.. If the domain was ever removed from the ICANN database after expiry and beyond the grace/redemption period then those links will be discounted 100%. So check domain authority/trust parameters beforehand...

Check the domain in wayback machine to see what kind of content was posted. Making sure that the backlinking wasn't blackhat/spammy is very crucial.

thanks for the reply all. the backlinks list shown by MOZ to this expired domains also having good page authority. So i guess should be safe.

how to check penalty anyway. been google but can't find much except tutorials asking to check Google Webmaster Tool for manual penalty etc. But the fact is, i am just going to buy this expired domains.
