301 Redirect Ruined my Rankings (Help!)

Hey Guys,

I've been running a very successful website for quite a few years now, we've been #1 for years in our field. However, about 3 years ago, I had a different company name and website which I've not updated for years so I was going to just delete the website.

But the web company hosting it, 301 redirected the old website to my new one before deletion which has TANKED my rankings. I removed the redirect about 2 days after and re-instated the old website once I realized what they did. This was about a week ago but my ranking are getting lower and lower every day. I'm now on page 4 for nearly all of my terms with 0 organic traffic from 1,000 a day.

I tried crawling both websites through webmaster tools so Google can see they are no longer being re-directed, an additional problem is that they are both on the same IP. I'm not even sure why this had such a huge impact on my rankings. It's been a week and we've made no recovery so far, just more losses.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Before you go blaming this entirely on the 301 redirect, I'd recommend checking into the most recent google broad algorithm update that just went live on the 1st or so. There's a chance this could be effecting your rankings as well.
