301 redirect not working

I recently purchased website which was ranking strong for a keyword 'example' my website is exactly the same niche, but content is different.

I bought this website just to redirect it to my own site and rank for keyword 'example'

Rankings transfered in a few days, but then this keyword started to jump in and out of serps until it settled to be out of serps.

My website is not penalized so i don't understand what's wrong with this redirect.

Buying websites to transfer the authority of the links to an already existing website is against Google's TOS.

If you want to keep all the existing domain authority and link juice, you're going to need to be careful about how you go about changing the registrar info, the hosting, the content, etc. Google is on the lookout for people attempting to artificially inflate their link profiles by buying domains, and if your newly acquired domains fit this pattern, you can expect them to be sandboxed, links discounted, or even penalized.


I recommend changing the registration info over several months to avoid raising any red flags. Change the login info first of course; then maybe a month later, change the owning company name; a month later, change the tech contact; etc. Create yourself a spreadsheet to track your dates, and also what registration info you use.

I did not think it's against their terms of service, i am just purchasing new business and merging two websites into 1? Does that look wrong?

i have done same thing few times in the past (recently) and it worked out perfect.

Did you considered it to be a Google Dance maybe? Google has made an Algo update during the last weeks and from my keyword dancing I can see they settled yesterday until then they jumped around like you describe it.

Interesting i just went to check rankings and this keyword is ranking again, lets hope it's settles like that and not bounce back out.

Foreign sportsbetting/gambling site acceptable ?

Just as an FYI, buying links is against Google's TOS, hence buying an entire website just to transfer the link authority is also against TOS.

I can't post links because I haven't been here long enough but if you google "link schemes" in search console help you will see this from Google.
