301 redirect not working as it used to do?

Has anyone else experienced that 301 redirect isn't working as good as it still did on October/November?

Especially keywords with 10k+ searches a month don't seem to get any kind of serp rise anymore.

For us it seems it hasn't the same power any longer than before. Still testing on some new and older domains.

Niche redirects have still power...

The last time I 301'd was before 6 days and the SERPs are pretty strong on new domain. What kind of link profile do you have on the 301'd domain?

What exactly are you 301'ing and how are you doing it straight up 301 or website 301?

What tricks are you using for 301 redirect?

301s are still pretty effective, but then again, Depends on The Domains mate.

I've seen folks do a 302 instead of a 301. Make sure you got the right redirect to permanent. Also, permanent means permanent, don't direct the same url to various places.

I've basically managed to rank some sites for the last 2 years by just 301'ing penalized domain to a new one. And I've kept on doing this over and over again. It's been working just fine and I've almost fully regained all the rankings every time until now.

Don't just redirect any domain, redirect a relevant domain with solid backlink profile.

Even with a solid domain redirected, I got some results, but not nearly what I used to get a few months ago. Still testing though...used this technique only 3-4 times, can't say for certain.

Don't forget that there is a 30 day to 6 month delay on ranking new domains now. I know in the past 301ing old quality niche related domains would bypass this delay, but it doesn't seem to do this any more - not for me anyway. Doesn't mean the 301s aren't as powerful as before though, just that the domain they're pointing to is still being held back while it matures.

Seeing this on one of my sites that im waiting to rank at the minute. I have 9 niche related domains redirected to it, and the site is now 10 weeks old. After the first burst of redirects it jumped to 2nd / 3rd page for all keywords for all keywords under 10K searches after a few weeks.

Anything over that wasn't to be seen for the first few weeks but in the last few weeks they've been slowly rising and the >10K searches keywords are now on between 30th and 60th positions.

I've gradually added a few hundred quality links over that time period as well, but i know the site wouldn't be where it was without the redirects. So i would say, just have patience and do what you usually do.. but give it time.

In my experience, 301s don't work anymore. Maybe it's because of the ranking delay, maybe it's not, but I've never kept a failed 301 on for 2 months so dunno if those 301s would have resulted in higher rankings if I'd just waited.

One of my 301s is 1 month and a few days old and it still hasn't passed the link equity to the site it redirects to. I may be wrong, but I saw no improvement in rankings after the redirect.

Well, it depend upon the domain backlinks profile, it still works buddy.

When have you experienced this exactly? 301's still worked fine for me on October.
