301 Redirect Keyword Question

so i have domain A with keyword of "apples" and domain B with Keyword of "money". Would it affect my ranking to 301 redirect between 2 domains with totally different keywords?? whats the downside of doing this if any?? does 301 redirect in general affect seo ranking?? Thanks in advance

301 redirect tells google that your site is permanently moved. So if you place a 301 redirect on siteA to SiteB, google thinks that SiteA is permanently moved to SiteB.

Most of the links pointing to SiteA will be considered as links to SiteB. If you were using the achor text "Apples" to link to SiteA, now your those links with "Apples" pointing to SiteB.

so site A keywords take priority over site B's?? and instead of site B being associate with the keyword "money" it will be associated with site A's keyword?

If you have 10k keyword pointing to SiteA with anchor text "Apples", after 301 those links are pointing to SiteB.
So now you have almost 10K links pointing to SiteB with anchor text "Apples".

Which keyword your site is associated depends upon the content on your site as well the total number of backlinks with anchor text. Example if you don't have any anchor text pointing to SiteB, other than the 301 redirected ones from SiteA, then you won't rank for the keyword "money". But if you have 100k keywords with "money" as the anchor text, the additional backlinks from the 301 redirection will help eventhough the anchor text is apples.
