Just came across not one, but fucking 45 301 redirects pointing at one of my clients sites that we have NOTHING to do with. The rankings have already started slipping, and there's absolutely nothing I can do except keep building links in hopes to stop the bad effect.

This is certainly more frustrating than standard negative SEO, because at least you could disavow links. Can you even disavow a 301? The SERPs are so easy to manipulate (in a bad way). This shit is getting out of control.

Wow... This is the first time that I've heard of someone doing a 301 redirect as part of Negative SEO! Competition isn't stopping at anything now a days. I wish I could help but I honestly am unsure on which approach you should take on recovering from something like this.

Very interesting. Can you provide any insight to the metrics behind the 301s? It would be interesting to know if they have any authority, etc.

if you know the url's of the redirects, then i don't really understand why you can't disavow them...maybe i am missing something...

Google actions itself is what makes negative SEO even possible...

If you have the referrer you can always redirect them to another site. Very interesting approach though!

I guess I don't know much about the G but aren't seo and neg seo an inherent part of each other?

Wouldn't blocking them in .htaccess help?

    Just a thought.

I'd open a discussion up on Googles webmaster forums here.

Matt Cutts denies negative SEO is possible, IMO that is bull.

Doesn't that just send the traffic coming from the redirects to an error page? I'm not sure if that will actually prevent the bad link juice/penalty coming to my site. Any one have experience with this?
