301 penalty?

Alright guys, I can not seem to figure this out. My site was hit with unnatural link penalty right before penguin 2.0 was released and I fell to second page.

If I 301ed that domain to a 1 month old domain I have, would the penalty transfer over? I was ranking very high and making great money from this site and would love to have that back.

Thanks for any info you may have!

If you moved to page 2 then it means your site is not penalized. If someone has some bad links and some good links then google does not give an overall penalty to the site.
Google does not say "most of your links" as bad links....Google just devalued a few links and that is why, you went to page 2....
No need to 301... Just buy some nice links.. You should be back.....
Do many link types...... Link types, diversity is imp.
 
Even though I have unnatural links in my web master tools, you think I should keep bombarding the site with links? I have been doing naked anchors and it will not move.

it took a few weeks but the penalty went thru the to the new site with Panda-Guin 1.x - so why wouldnt it flow thru on Penguin Part Deux ?

test and see - can always remove - maybe you bank for a month or two ?
 
If you redirect it to your one month old domain it won't get penalty because of your penalized money site.
But i see no point in this. Even if you redirect you will be in same page 2. If you do that for traffic yes you can and start building links for your new domain.
Your site only lost its rank. So you can do a reconsideration request after removing spam links.

If I redirect it, the thinking is the new domain will not have the unnatural link warning so my rankings will be back. Is this wrong?
 
Bro you're going through way to much trouble for nothing.... this is not a penalty... not in the slightest. You've been slapped. You dropped a few points. Rankings are dynamic things. Yes probably due to the unnatural links violation. Since you got the warning letter remove the bad links, Add some good links, end of story. A penalty is when you site is gone from the fist 300-500 results for all keywords. Then you know you have been royally f#cked. You just dropped some spots, so build your rankings back up. No need to do 301's which will take weeks to be fully implemented, and still have the same issues.

It MAY get temporary boost and rank high but eventually it'll also drop to page 2. Your best option would be to fix the problem by removing bad links rather wasting time on temporary solutions.

Sorry to hijack the OP's thread.

I have a similar issue. First hit by panda in August last year and slipped from top three for a good handful of KW down to page 2 and 3. One or two of my KW where I have great content stuck in positions 3 - 5.
After I cleaned up some poor html errors (as found in WT) most of the KW made a partial recovery and got back to page 1 although at the bottom of. Since penguin 2 a week or so ago I have started sliding again and dropped to page 2/3 for most terms as clearly some inbounds have been devalued.

What sort of linking package should I be looking at to boost it back up? The domain is PR2 and getting on for 8 years old. Over those years I have not built a hell of a lot links except for some unique ezine articles, directory submissions and some (related) blog comments, a number of these were on edu sites.

Earlier comments in this thread have assisted me as I always thought I was subject to penalty and that G was watching every move I made. After reading about the spam identifier patent I held off altering my title tag in the fear they would bang me back to page 50.

I can now see the domain has a lot of history and as such a bit of trust. Whilst I have always held off a direct linking package before, maybe it is now the time to divulge.

Anyone offer any suggestions to gather back some lost ground?
 
How do I find the bad links to remove? I assume it is one of the many blog networks I used that got me the unnatural links warning.
 
Is there anyone that could help me with this. I am really lost on what to look for or do to recover this site.
 
why dont you use a penguin recovery service check BST
 
I did check the BST. Am I blind? I did not see such a service.
 
its not penalty, don't do 301. some links devalue. it happened to my site. i update contents and did social media. FB, twitter, +1, but slow daily. you will be back in a month.

how many pages on your site? also check in site duplicate contents.

i had insite duplicate, i fix those and did social media slowly for a month. my site get back.

and yes 301 pass penalty. good luck.
 
Please stop saying and believing that this is a penalty. It isn't. Rankings got reshuffled, some link got devalued. If this was a penalty, all your keywords would be out of the SERPS. You've lost some rank. That's it. Rankings are dynamic things. Algo are constantly being updated. Links being found, links being devalued, competition moving, etc etc etc. Around major updates shit is going to get much more turbulent. You dropped to second page..... that does not mean that you've been penalized. Talking about 301's, reconsideration requests, disavow tool, etc. is just madness. All you have to do is work on rebuilding your rankings, same as you did the first time round.
 
Hi there, I had a similar situation as the OP. Got the manual spam action unnatural links message in GWT and decided to try another domain. I got the exact same message saying that some of my links were devalued and certain pages had the action applied They said they would just ignore the bad links. I know I overoptimised anchor text too much. Maybe if I had fixed the anchor text ratios it would have sorted the problem, but I did read somebody speculating that with that message, there is a kind of 'ranking cap' they put on you for the overoptimised kws and I do think that may have happened to me.
