301 directing for penguin

Hi all.

My site got hit a couple of weeks a go by the penguin update. If i build a new site and then redirect my old one with a 301 to point to my new site will it affect the ratings of my new one?

The reason i want to redirect is because i still get loads of traffic on my other site due to links to it.

If your site got hit due to spammy backlinks than I would suggest you not to redirect. but if you site got hit by EMD than you can create a 301 redirect.

Spamy backlinks was the reason i believe
