301 Direct to Blogspot (free blog) - will it harm SERP?

Yeap, I have an old blog that is pulling some profits. But I've decided to give it a domain name.

If I buy a domain and do a 301 Direct to blogspot, then I build lots of backlinks for the domain... will it still high rank in google?

Google owns blogger, and blogger gives you the opportunity to do that, so you wont get penalized. If anything your rankings will boost because a domain is > sub domain. Go for it.

no harm will be done, your old blog will retain it's PR and the domain with the 301 will receive the blog's PR in a couple of months (PR Lease)

I did it more than 3 years ago and everything went OK.. all links xxx.blogspot.com were adjusted accordingly in a couple of weeks .
