Do you thinks 300 words articles still good in GOogle eyes?
i mean that 300 words per articles [around 10 articles on site]..

Only posting 10 articles of 300 words will not do anything good. You need to create backlinks for the keywords targeted by those articles. The choice of keywords and niche is also an important factor.

What ever your word count, without creating backlinks your site won't be good with google eyes

What if your article keywords are different from your overall site keywords, which would be better to target? Would it be better to backlink individual articles with specific keywords or backlink the homepage of the website with overall site keywords? or generally just both?

Just write what you can. A short article is better than none. Peoplefind and read my short articles too when searching g.though I have noticed no pictures is bad. So try to put a picture or more.
