I recently subscribed to SEOMOZ and its very much worth the price but I'm not here to ask you to buy it. I was reading their SEO Tips blog and I came across some valueable info which I would like to Pass on -

1. Place the keyword in beginning of page title. Lets Say your kw is Make Money

Good Title : Make Money - Learn How to do it
Bad Title : Learn How to Make money

Notice the change in placement of the kw in title. It really gives your site an edge when everyone has their kws somewhere in title.

2. Page Description can vastly increase your visitors - Take 2 minutes and make sure you write down a good page description. If you have wordpress, you can install "all in one seo plugin" and there's a place in it to write custom page desciptions.

How does it help? If you don't write a page desciption, Google automatically takes it from your site to display it in search results below your title. Use a good catchy description and even if your site is below your competitor, it might get more visitors than your competitor.

3. Video SEO - Create a video, Self host it on your site. Make sure its not copyrighted. Google will love your site as it has some multimedia content apart from the usual text and pics.

{Extra}: Now you can use the same video and upload it on YouTube with a Link to your site. make sure you use http:// infront of your link. Create bookmarks to your video or feed it some extra views and likes using vagex. As your video gains some authority you will gain 2 benefites.

a. Link passes good value to your site.
b. You might even get some traffic ;)

I hope you guys find this stuff valuable because it is.

Nice tips HH

Agree with all the tips

Thanks for the share

No offense pal but seomoz is for shirt and tie wearing snake oil seo's who know nothing about SEO and whine at Matt Cutts when getting their asses get slapped in the serps by grey/black hats. I used to be a 'member' back in the day, but got fed up of all the 'thumbs up' tongue up randy fishmans bottom and shiteboard friday. Also the outing of sites pissed me off.

Thanks mate, I was really tempted to keep these tips to myself, but then I though what the heck, BHW is family.

Don't Underestimate anything, Just keep an open mind to get the best features from everywhere:)

thanks for sharing, regardless if this is old, some of the new BHW members can learn from this.

Is this the BEST they have got for "members"? i'd be pretty disappointed if i paid and saw this as the best they got. btw OP, Thanks for posting, it tells me not to become a member.

These are ok points for newbies looking for tips. I am not subscribed to SEOmoz BUT some of the blog posts are well worth a read.
They made every effort to warn people away from BMR way before it crashed and burned and took so many people with it!

Lol, being a member at SEOmoz is something every reputable SEO'er should strive to be. Most agencies buy a membership straight away for their new employees.

Many people here forget the basics. They think that SEO is all about firing up SeNuke X or Scrapebox and things will work out by itself.

if I would ask people here about how to use EV (Expected Value) to run SEO campaigns, how they can use RegEx or for SEO, using Google Docs with Xpath etc etc I bet very few are able to answer.

I hope for your sake that Howard continues to share information from SEOmoz because that will teach you tons more compared to much of the other shit you read.

Over and out.

Thanks for the information, some interesting points indeed.

You speak the truth my friend. The last place you want to go for your SEO
advice is SEOMoz (together with SEOBook, SearchEngineWatch and other
craplogs)

If what Mr 'Fishin' preached worked so well, then why didn't it work for him?
Instead of taking on clients for Moz's services/tools, why didn't he employ SEO'ers to rank in competitive niches and bank?

I remember reading an interview with Mr 'Fishin' about a year ago, and he was basically saying that his company was a financial disaster zone until very recently.

Moz and the like are effectively an add-on to Cutts; a talking shop for G and blatantly scaremongering in their effort to keep SEO whiter than white.

I have mixed feelings abt this thread. On the one hand, such advice would be helpful for newbies. On the other hand, BHW is not really a newbie forum, and the OP could have gotten really ravishing response at, say, digitalpoint.
