I purchased a 2.5 yr old domain and then paid for an Xrumer blast to try to get the site ranked quickly, well after only 6 weeks it got as high as no.5 for my main key word and then immediately disappeared out of the serps. Ever since then it shows up in the top 10 again for a few days but then goes straight back into Google dance for a few weeks back and forth. Its been doing this for 3 months now and wonder how/when this will stop?

I read somewhere about possibly building a link pyramid (which i am in the process of doing) might help but wondered if there was any other suggestions?

Are you still building links to your site?

OR you only did one blast then nada?

Sounds like a case of not varying your anchor text enough.

Sounds like you need more links, plus maybe some diversity as well to counter just having the xr blast.

This happened to me for one of my sites mate. I was in the top 5 and then entered the dance. I would be gone completely for 2-3 weeks then back to my number 5 for 2 days. This continued to happen to my site for 5 months. It has only just stabalized back at number 5 at the start of last month and has thankfully stayed there now. Just keep building the links mate!

Sorry to hear this.

As asked above... Did you only do 1 XR blast and then stop link building?

You'll definitely need more links, and diverse links at that.

Definitely focus on link pyramids since building backlinks to your backlinks helps a lot. Also focus on supreme link diversity. Throw some articles out there, link them. Make a squidoo page or two and link them also.

You should be fine if you don't stop link building.

Sounds like you need to keep building High Pr links.

Too many chefs in the kitchen, ay?

Hi, thanks for the replies. I did the initial blast then carried on building links using only 3 different anchor texts and only xrumer links. Looking to diversify now and also add link pyramids and hopefully it will eventually settle down.

Cheers.

you have to regularly build links, the worst thing you could do is to stop building links

If you read my post the you would know i have been regularly building links but i am still in Google dance 4 months now!

Now wondering if i change the home page URL from hxxp://domain.com to hxxp://www.domain.com and start fresh link building campaign, would my site come out of Google dance since all those links should be discounted and i can now start over?

One of my websites danced for 10 months straight, coming in and out of SERPs every few months, for a few days. Just keep building backlinks, you'll eventually stabilize. The key to ranking in the SERPs is patience, despite popular belief.

Thanks but what if i dont want to wait another 6 months and decide to change the url (use www. where all my links current point to my domain without the www), will that negate the Google dance and enable me to start from scratch?
