Hi,

Hopefully this is in the right category. We have a website that is up and running, and looking at buying 2 more domains. We want to, for the time being, redirect the 2 new domains to the new domain. In time, we will build 2 new sites, that will sell the same products as the original domain.

I have been looking on Google, and to be honest, I'm confused, some answers say that it will kill my main site, others say its fine!

Can you great people please give me your views?

Thanks.

If you want to redirect, follow this awesome guide

I don't understand one thing: do you want to buy 2 more domains just for redirecting? Or do you want to buy 2 domains for redirecting and another 2 domains that sell the main product of the main site?

If you want to buy another 2 domains, I think it's not a good choice: you will compete with yourself for the same query, and you will probably get penalized if the pages are too similar (you could use the rel="canonical" tag, but I don't think it will be really that useful).

Thanks for the reply, I will bookmark that and give it a good read. We will be buying 2 more domains, these domains will start of with a redirect, then in time, we want to create 2 proper websites with them. We already have a script to rewrite product descriptions etc.

Can help consolidate traffic and strengthen your primary site's authority if done correctly with 301 redirects. it's crucial to manage these redirects carefully to avoid issues like duplicate content or dilution of link authority.

Redirecting new domain to your existing one is safe when it is done correctly, but careful planning and execution is required to avoid duplicate content ...Monitor it and adjust it accordingly for long term goal
