Could be done with a bot.
Bot goes to instagram.com/aaaa
Checks if username is taken or not.
If so bot goes to instagram.com/aaab

I'm sure there are still 4 letters available, I have a 3 letter for sale however.

I do see people selling IG and twitter usernames for $$$, Just contact them through IG.
