$299 - Yahoo Directory Submit - Worth It?

I guess it's worth $299 to have a permanent backlink from Yahoo, everybody agree? Can I expect a big boost in ranking for my whitehat site?
Any other high PR sites selling backlinks??
In my opinion, those Yahoo directory links are not worth the price. That same $299 could buy you a lot of links from a variety of different sites.

i agree with olden. for the price, you can buy a lot more links from good quality sites.
with that, and adding your own links from sites through your own SEO and linking campaigns, you could do much better.

There was a point in time 4-5 years ago where paying to be in the Yahoo! Directory would have been a fantastic idea. Not too surprisingly, that kind of misinformation still gets spread through old ebooks and the like. It's previous importance was because of its authority status, but I'm pretty sure it's been devalued by Google as its a very well known paid link. In terms of traffic, I doubt anyone would receive very much from it.

Yea its kinda played out now as for the value of the link. $299 goes a long way for other things.

There?s been a lot of buzz for the last month or so about whether Yahoo Directory has lost page rank on its internal pages. Some folks are speculating it might have something to do with the fact that Yahoo is a paid directory. Others think this is nonsense. I took a look at some of the internal pages and they do not show any rank at all on my meters. Google has cracked down a lot of directories and sites for selling links, and Yahoo was definitely one of the first that SEO groups considered as "PR Devalued."
That being said, I wonder how a Y Directory listing factors into Yahoo's internal ranking algorithm, they do still get a lot of traffic after all

We plunked down several thousand dollars to get a little street cred for our various sites. Results: nada. zip. nicht.
If you have an unlimited budget, sure go ahead. It's stupid, but it's a link.
If you're trying to be profitable, you're much better off buying some related domains, hosting them on different IPs and plunking down a few blog posts pointing back to your main site. That gives you x_number_of_posts (times) number_of_blogs links and that many more changes to rank for x_number_of_keywords all of which point back to you.

Its worth it I think. Obviously for a serious business or startup, not some shitty proxy site. Remember that Google actually officially recommends you submit to two directories. Even in FAQ.
Out of all you guys who say its not worth it. Have you actually tried submitting to Yahoo directory? Its a bit pointless making random guesses because of something you have heard some guy say on some forum or because your speculations. How many of you have actually spent the money for a listing and compared your results to those you have achieved spending the same money on other links?
Yahoo and Dmoz. Besides, its not just about Google. It will work wonders for Yahoo.
