Hey all. I have another journey thread where I'm charting my 'jouney' from IM novice to hopefully something, which you may have seen. I joined BHW a month or two ago and have learnt alot so far. What have I 'done' what have I got live? NOTHING! I've purchased a few domains and am in process of getting a logo made for a niche site. Woopie. Great months work.

Sitting here today deciding what to watch on TV. I decided enough is enough. I am going to start THIS journey thread and get something live that can potentially make me money NOW. not tomorrow not next week, not when i have money for x,y,z. NOW.

I have hosting, I have $12 in my skrill account (so can buy a domain) and that's it.

23:50 UK Time. The challenge starts now.

I've decided on click bank. Going to research a niche and buy a domain name. Will be back shortly with an update. I AM NOT SLEEPING UNTIL I HAVE A WEBSITE UP, A PRODUCT ON IT. AND AN AD CAMPAIGN RUNNING. (I have $70 in Bing account which I got free the other day).

This is not how you make money or anything else by acting impulsively in the moment (except for getting laid or try lsd for the first time)

OK so I am at the first fork in the road.
Do I go for a real site, or a redirect.

I want to get this up and running asap. I know that ideally i would have a site of my own and an email capture form etc. But I can't help thinking It has to be simpler to just buy a domain, have that domain in the paid advert, and have a redirect to my affiliate URL that will just load the product page straight up. 90% of people out there wont even know what an affiliate URL is so i dont think i need to worry about them clicking off as they have been redirected.

I'm thinking easiest method would be to just plug the affiliate tracking url into the registrar and do a redirect that way.

Should work in principle?
 
In terms of all the journey threads I see on here, I think you have a very good chance of achieving this goal. May I suggest upping the stakes and set your goal to make your first bit of money online in 24 hours? I believe in you!

T - 4 hours (3.58am)

I spent about an hour and a half selecting a niche and a product to promote. I went for something in the self help section in the end. I had some debating with myself about gravity. I dont want huge gravity because competition may be tough, but i want some gravity so at least i know the mechanics of the process are working and a couple have been sold recently.

I settled on a product with a gravity of 5. The next question was the price point.

I settled on an expensive product ($157) which i receive 60% of if I make a sale.

Next i thought about getting a site up but decided for my project which i want to get out there now with no more dilly dallying around... I will just redirect straight into the sales copy for the product.

I spent an hour researching names, and picked up on an idea of the product and registered a 3 word .com that is fairly well matched for it imo. I then researched redirects, I was more or less decided on using a 301 redirect, but then i saw an article by jon chow where he specifically talks about redirecting into clickbank products, and suggested you use a cloaked redirect, because this stops some people from deliberatey typing in the url of the product when they see it change in the address bar to try to avoid you getting any commission. WOW do people really do that? Anyway the fact he was suggesting this, changed my mind about something i had read earlier which said masked affiliate links can mean you lose the commision.

Maybe there is a difference between masking and cloaking i'm not sure. But if Jon Chow says its ok i guess it cant be all that unreliable. I decided to give this method a go. The beauty with this is i was able to set up the redirect direct with my registrar so i didnt even need to link it into my hosting account!

The downside with this method is i have limited control, e.g. i have no analytics on the domain. However as I'm mostly using paid advertising as traffic i dont think this will be such a big deal, as the paid advertising metrics should give me an indication of who's visiitng the site etc. and numbers.

So ... i have a product... I get $90 ish dollars per every sale....
I have a domain name....
it's linking into the product....

Now i'm off to setup my advert in Bing

I'm tired, but this challenge has pulled me through. I'm excited i have a page out there now that is pulling through into sales copy and is a potential earner, now i just got to get some traffic to it and hopefully some will convert.

I've set daily budget to $20 - suggested cpc was 0.30 so I've left it at this, have gone for very targeted keywords to start with, if i'm not getting any impressions i'll wider the net tomorrow.

Really pleased I created this thread. It pushed me to get out there and do it and whatever the result, I've learnt a tonne in the last 5 hours or so and have created my first campaign.

I can't pull myself away from the search metrics, 0 impressions so far. I just want an impression, not even bothered about clicks, let alone sales. Right now i just want to know my little advert has been put in front of someone. This is exciting stuff. If no impressions when I wake up, i'll be adding keywords!

Very nice OP. Yes there is difference between redirecting and cloaked redirecting. As far as "trying to change the url so that somebody does not earn commission" is concerned, I think, only IMers do that. Some of them are jealous of others making money :smashfrea....
Most common people dont know much about these things

So we are getting impressions but no clicks! Not sure if I'm pleased with this or not. I mean no clicks isn't great, but i deliberately designed the advert so only people that would be interested in purchasing something might click through. I'd rather high converting clicks than clicks that dont convert.

I think i'll widen the net up with the keywords, and depending on how that goes, maybe look at reworking the copy.

Another option is just to increase the cost per click, as i notice my average position is 4th or so, maybe i need to invest a bit more per click to try to get more exposure at the top of the rankings hmmm
 
Your currently paying for your traffic your self when the free stuff stops , i sugest
a social bot.

your direct linking to a product but if you create a webpage and promote the product even more your gain much more clicks.

Direct linking good but you might be able to re write a better sales page then the provider to encourage more clicks/sales.


or maybe even use a comment bot for Facebook(( only sugested becouse you want instant results.

Hey thanks RedArrow, which social bot do you suggest? I was thinking FL, but am still on the fence from the mixed reviews I've read recently on BHW. I will get some social up soon for sure.

Also invest some time into getting a niche site up - and maybe have this our 'flagship product'. For now if i could just sell one and make like 20% ROI from my $70 in bing that would be awesome.
