23 years old, never had a job

Maybe you are confussing this with sports, which is true for the early, mid 20s
No I definitely meant learning bro.

Check the first para of that doc:

Also, I don't want to sound like a wanker (although I'm accepting the fact I will anyway) but I've studied human and computer cognition academically myself, and also to a lesser degree from a personal point of view when I worked to get into Mensa a few years back.

I've looked into how information processing works quite a bit man because I find it interesting af.

I know in that article that it says that memory peaks in early 30's, but learning is much more than just remembering things, and the speed of processing information is significantly faster in your 20's and shows a clear decline from early to mid 20's onwards.

For a quick way to see this concretely, sign up to Lumosity and then check where your score sits in comparison to different age groups. You'll see what I mean and that's with millions of real-world data points over years of measuring that.

Also from the point of view of sports, it really depends what you're talking about (another interesting area). For anything relating to physical strength (in men at least) your 30's is your peak not 20's. For something like football then for sure your 20's would be your peak, but "sports" hinge on a range of skills and abilities and things like tennis or rugby could see someone perform much better in their 30's than 20's. (often the case actually)

are you saying that I have no chance on becoming the next tom Brady?!

Dude you’re depressing me I’m 37:mad:

You are right though of course, but I prefer to focus on life experience and I have to say that I feel way smarter now having experience about life and I feel like I can see everything in a different way that I just couldn’t comprehend when I was younger.

Even if I am getting slower

Haha suck it up mate, I'm 36. We'll be ok!

Yeah completely true. The trade off is that you can't "think" as fast as you did 10 years ago, but you can think better for the most part. Decision making is (objectively) substantially better in your 30's than 20's with roots in neurology and life experiences.

You'll operate better in general in your 30's than 20's, you'll know more (obvs), and will probably make more good decisions. But if you are put up against a comparable programmer who is 24 and asked to learn a new language or code up a large project, you're fucked basically (if it just comes down to how fast you and them can absorb, retain, process and retrieve data).

I dont know what to do...
No despair !!
I am working on Freelancer. I think you can do Freelancing. Freelancing that means (Content Writing , Seo, Digital marketing, Affliate marketing, Web Design and Development etc).
No need more thing - Just only 1. Computer or laptop 2. Dedicated time and hard working
Bestof Luck

Also this could sound crazy, moreover in a marketing forum, but if you manage to sit on top of GMB city moving, you can rent a 3,5-8 ton truck (~600 stones) and easy charge $25/hour including transport + the work of loading everything yourself, discounting the price of the rental + the truck oil. Generally you will have to do this with someone else, but both of you could be charging this, so if you know someone in the same situation I find this to be a great opportunity. And with the current pandemic situation, a lot of people is going away from the metropolis desesperately needing this service. The only caveat is depending your country you may need a different driving license, so you might be capped depending on the law. In my country with the basic driving license you can go up to 3.5 ton (550 stones)

He might need a traffic license/permit to run a moving company in Denmark, it´s not as just rent a truck and start the business in their laws even under 3.5 ton. We have those regulations here in Sweden, and I think Denmark is the same, might be wrong .. =)

In Spain is around 350-400 euros/year and you can ask the city halls all the permissions you need to occupy the parking areas if you ask them 48h in advance. But this only apply to >3.5 ton trucks. Obviously, the same as what happens with marketing services, you can be registered... or not. Generally with a 3,5 ton trucks police never ask for anything in my country. I could just be doing my own moving with such sizeable truck so the risk of going without license is minimal.

BTW, I've found this, because I'm moving in 1 week, and it has been really hard to find an adequate + available service.

You live in a nice country, In Sweden there is a lot of certificates, like "trafiktilstånd[trafficpermit] and some courses just to be able to run a transport company, not cheap and a lot of papers needs to be done .. =)

What I hate come job is yea the usual " office politics " , can't be avoid . Next is a deal , u are trading your time to make other rich in return they pay u wages
But is totally different if you are offering services like SEO , etc . You are working for your business , your time is not wasted as you are Really invest yourself. even so call you are " middle man " u also earn commission , more sales= more commission For yourself.

whereas at job, i feel kinda piss off is your credit at work is taken by your co worker or manager " than they behind your back tell the boss is they did it , and BS claim stay back office to finish never mention your name " This is what I hate most beside hypocrites co worker or backstabber.

I not saying all like this, I do work in some places, the co workers are nice, managers too etc "no doubt got office politics " at least come work they draw a line clearly your credit means yours .

end of the day is a life experience i treat it. Is kinda " standard " grad from school than go society work . Later when you come mid 30, 40s will begin to think should I do different things etc
or remind in my comfort zone. This is the hardest decision.

IF you can drive there will be plenty of driving jobs around. Food delivery etc - you have to work in hand though which will suck and pay out before you get paid (fuel etc) so when you have no income it's a high entry cost to the job (I think)

It's also hard now given what's going on in various job sectors but id imagine you should be able to pick up some extra warehouse work, find some builders and see if you can get some cash in hand labour jobs etc..

If you are looking for work. Go and "sign on" get job seekers or whatever the equivalent is in your country and give some of that money to your mother - she will back off. She no doubt see you some kind of leech staying at home, running up the bills while not bringing any money in - frustrating if your family is low income and there is now another adult to support.

Either way no matter what goes on in the world, there are jobs out there. You just have to put your pride to one side and go and look for them.

Do you speak a second language?

Do you have any skills in particular?
Video editing and scripting is easy to learn and can be sold on a broad scale.

Knew a friend who dropped out of middle school but grew up in a household where he had to speak 4 languages fluently. Hasn't had any trouble finding a job since he was 16 or so, thankfully.

gee he so young can speak 4 languages?? which languages? I always admire envy those folks can speak many languages. Is tough to be honest to master a new language , I not preferring just one , is two or more.

Get in front of as many people and companies as possible - call companies, email companies, visit companies.

Its hard but reaching out is a big part of the process. Its not just a job you're looking for, its opportunity - you don't know who you'll end up speaking to and where that could lead.

When I first started out in my industry (IT Support) I was going into my local IT shop litteraly 2-3 times per week. I done this for months on end without any success. I think the owner was probably sick and tired of seeing me. But one day, I went in there and he was stressed out due to not being able to solve this small DNS problem with a particular client.

He didn't know it was a DNS issue at the time, but instead asked me if I knew anything about active directory. Of course I lied and said yes. Somehow managed to fix the problem and thats when i got the job.

So you really need one of those lucky breaks, but you're not going to get one unless you're putting yourself in the right place.

And yea, maybe you wanna work for yourself, earn money online etc. Which is great, but you can't beat getting a little experience in some sort of job first - and especially as that will make your parents happy

This is hands down one of the best and honest "life related" advice i have ever read on bhw
