If you are promoting a keyword phrase that people use to search for free information without a buying mindset you can have horrible conversion rates. my advice is to use words that people search for near the end of their buying decision.

This tool can help you find the commercial intention of words to have a better chance to put together keywords phrases for optimization that results in better conversion rates:

Target keywords that people use when they are ready to purchase like "buy (name of product)" "(name of product) review" "(name of product) scam...People using these keywords have made their decision to buy the product but want to make sure that they made the right decision.

Finding the buying keywords is critical.

I made the mistake of buying some broad keyword match when I first started and watched $150 go down the drain in less than two hours. Several hundred hops and no sales.

Just because someone clicks your link on adwords doesn't mean they are going to buy the product.

Thime to change the offer for sure, no question about it.

If your traffic is targeted you should have made a sale. But like some say all ready,. it depneds on the niche and also on how much you need to spend to aqcuire clicks.

No need to be afraid...

Conversion depend on:
  1. Tempting product, site, price (in this case $97 - not cheap, so lower conversions)
  2. Niche: competing products (in this case IM/Get Rich. VERY competitive niche, lots of competing products, harder to sell)
  3. Niche: Competing affiliates (I've had people put their affiliate links just under my PPC AdWords. I convinced to buy, then user just clicked their link, and THEY got the commission. Sux!)
  4. TARGETING: this should be most important here. getting 1000 hops from people who aren't looking for such a product will give lower sales than 100 hops from people looking for such a solution).
One of the biggest mistakes newbies do is start selling IM products. This niche is over saturated, and the sharks just eat the minnows alive.

Better to start at less competitive niches, or start with CPA (where you don't have to sell anything, just drive leads).

This is very true. I switched products and I'm already seeing way better results. I have a question, apart from PPC and article submission, how else do you usually promote your product?
