Background:

I've had little success with splogging for the past years, making a few cents per day per site but never really managed to scale up, thanks to lack of time from my corporate job.

About a year ago I finished my MBA and dumped my day job and got into brick and mortar business (fitness studio) with some former co-workers. And now that it's recently stabilizing I've had plenty of time to rework my splogging model. I've tried traditional blogging and made $25,000 off of it before (video games niche), but caring for and curating a single piece of property is really not my thing as you have to fend off all sorts of things from big G, to your competitors, the industry, etc. I've always leaned more on the "f*ck you G SERPs" side of things and would rather find a super efficient way to churn and burn.

Turning point / why I'm doing this: I've recently learned ways to automate a lot of my processes which were holding up my ability to scale, specifically:
  • domain/subdomain creation
  • CMS installation / setup macros
  • article spinning models
  • rapid indexing

With the extra time I've had I've finally gotten down to selecting/purchasing/testing the tools to do the job now, but for the meantime I'll withhold the names of these tools (these are just 3-4 tools, most are obvious anyway). Will also withhold my chosen niche and keywords for the usual reasons. The most I can say is that these are not evergreen niches.

Having said that: Production wise, I can basically churn out 300-500 sites a day, but I'll stop at 1,000 first and take it from there. I expect results 2 months after complete setup. From past data, my forecast is that 1,000 sites will net me $100/day.

Also, I'm not worrying about getting banned from adsense. Based on my 3 years of splogging the sites usually get kicked off the SERPS instead off getting an adsense ban. Plus, I have at least 2 adsense accounts and will only be using one for this massive expansion experiment.

Wish me luck. Those of you who have similar experience / mindsets I'd appreciate you chiming in and dropping any advice!

Attaching stats of my first 50 sites for the past 30 days.

Update 7/2:
  • Previous day earnings: ~$10 still mostly from my first 50 sites made last month, my next 50 sites made last week generating about 10% of this
  • Lifetime earnings (EXCLUSIVE to this project): ~$280
  • Total costs $338:
    • Tools: $130
    • Hosting/domains: $208
  • Gross profit/loss: -$58
  • Created sites total: 700 (+300 today)
  • Shared hosting: 6 accounts all maxing out INODE allocations
Next steps:
  • Focus on indexing/pinging/backlinking. Currently using scrapebox rapid indexer but it's crashing -- any suggestions for bulk indexing? Manual webmaster (google/bing) submissions are NOT an option.
  • KW research and setup next 300 sites -- niche suggestions are welcome (trendy, fast moving niches. just not celebs/showbiz please)
  • Use excel to make better/more regular reports :p

Earnings still in the range of $5-$10 per day coming from about 50-75 sites. Bought the last 2 hosting services I need. Will finish up a total of 1,000 sites (+300) after I post this.

Next step: nurturing stage, i.e., how to get this mass of sites indexed by Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, DuckDuckGo, Ask, etc. Would highly appreciate pro advice on this part!

lol. nice to see such journey.

Best of luck to you OP!

what content are you adding to sites? Are you using readable content or is it spun generated?

I've a list of RSS feeds which I then use to populate custom spun articles.

How many different niches are you targeting and did you factor in CPC when choosing the niche for this journey?

Goodluck!

reminded me of good old days, left splogging from last 2-3 years. I will follow your journey, it might be motivational to me

wow this is different (for me). quick question how does a bunch of spam sites generate income from adsense?
goodluck. hope you churn alot before you burn :D

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm targeting about 5 relatively broad niches, with 3 of them being narrowed down further. Chose them based on availability of source material, combined with bid data and monthly searches from Adwords KW planner.

Nice journey. Good luck to you on this.

Thanks!

I hope this inspires! Those were the good old days indeed :p

Simple, create splogs at the lowest costs possible that have power to rank quickly and hold position for a reasonable amount of time for you to bank. Huge part of the success is your choice of niche -- with the big question being: do I have sustainable sources of fresh spinnable content?

Believe it or not, my masteral thesis was a about stable revenue streams by creating a spam site network. It started as a total bullshit idea but after months of doing industry/market scans, finding ways to overcome growth limits, studying operational levers and such, I was convinced myself that splogging done right still and will continue to have huge potential.

@seyer all 1k blogs on one adsense account? that's a suicide !

Update 7/5:

July 3 - $5.65 for 2,291 pageviews
July 4 - $7.66 for 2,023 pageviews

Revenue is coming from 30 of my initial #1-#50th sites. My 2nd batch of #51-#100th site is contributing a tiny bit as well.

Now at 950 sites, 50 got stuck with some bug with my batch installer. Working this out with the dev.

Cleaned up my rapid indexer list and it's no longer crashing, now pushing hard on that. My #101-#200th sites starting to drip feed and get indexed on google.

Not setting up more sites beyond 1,000 sites, so for the mean time I'm running operational scenarios to try and predict churn rate and burn rates.

Long way to go!

Batch website installer problem all sorted out, apparently it was a problem with my host. Something about a glitch with DNS not being synchronized to my hosting account and therefore producing "data errors" and "server not found errors". Finishing up remaining 50 sites.

So your basically just creating hundreds if not thousands of blog websites and stealing content from other blogs with an automatic system in different niches with an few adsense accounts spread over hundreds or thousands of websites? You my friend are a genius.

Could you please explain what you mean by this:
  • CMS installation / setup macros.
And what it does I tried googling it but not a lot of luck
