I have a news website where I publish daily the latest news about my subject. I do get allot of traffic from Google and Bing organic search results. But for some reason I get nothing from Google news.

My website has been aproved in Google news for arround 18 months now. I have arround 400 followers on news.google.com, yet I have received only 233 clicks and 3.8K impressions in the last 3 months.

Any tips on getting traffic from google news? Almost all articles we publish daily (3 to 5 posts) are trending in Google Trends in last hour and last 4 hours filter. Titles are fairly optimized for CTR, we use internal linking in the articles, categories, tagsm etc.

400 followers and 233 clicks sounds good to me. It depends majorly on the search volume of your targeted keywords, though.

Sincerely,
The Data Scientist

But shouldn't I get allot more traffic from Google news? I use the Google news app myself and never follow anyone. I just use the discover tab. I suspect most people do, so any way to get into the discover tab?

I had a small news website with google news approved. For me it worked to share the google news post to social pages

We do post it on social media and get some traffic from Twitter and Facebook. But on Google news no traffic. I was searching and read some stuff about google discovery, is this separate from news or same?

Try to build some authority links/social signals to your Google News page should do the job.

I already have links from some of the largest news websites in the country my site is active in. Arround 30 links from smaller Google news websites.

As you have already done every necessary thing, I suggest you try HARO ones may be it could help, and don't stop social sharing it will definitely help.

Several reasons could be factors.

1) what's your volume of actual NEWS posts daily?

2) How many ORIGINAL , useful news articles are you breaking daily?

3) What's the retention of these original stories? Then the other news stories?

4) Are your site syndicating your site?

5) How many people share your news content?

Answer these questions and lets go from there. I'm the most experienced "google news service" provider on the internet. And not only this, I had my first Google News website in 2002. I can give you some pointers.

Cool, let me answer ur questions:
1. We posts 3-7 new articles depending on the volume of news in our niche
2. All our articles are 100% original in terms of text. But we mostly use big news sites as our source and try to use smaller sources and foreign sources too.
3. 37.85% bouncerate and between 20-90 seconds onsite
4. We syndicate to Twitter only
5. Not sure, but I have seen a couple of people share our articles on facebook, Twitter and also allot in comments sections and on forums.
Would love to hear you feedback and get some tips :)

I believe if you have more audience engagement like comments, shares, and reviews, you will rank higher in Google.
