Why was it so much worse?

2009 did kind of suck for me too. I won't blame the economy because a lot of it was my own fault. I got lazy with site SERP rankings and I got obliterated in some profitable niches. Playing catch-up is working, but it was almost as difficult to get all those sites ranked in the first place.

Not necessarily for the OP but for anyone listening:

Moral of my story: don't be like me and get lazy. After you're on top, keep climbing higher. Even if it's just a little bit every day. The competition gets better every day. Hell, some of you are probably my competition. 2009 sucked but it got me to re-sharpen my swords and I'm out for blood again. :)

it was one of the best for me. Desperate people looking for solution in times of recession, I provided them with the solution and made bank

A lot of people don't know what it's like to market in a NON - recession as IM was not popular when we were not in a recession.

You always make more money, when people have more money to spend.

Was pretty good for me too! But then again I've only been in IM a few years

MIght be the worst year ever in my life. I'm glad its almost over too. Hoping 2010 picks shit up, as it can't get any worse?

Well, I'll always remember this year.

Walked out of my job, and now trying out new things :-)

2009 was a great year for me. I will have banked just over $100k for the year at the end of this month.

Sales took a big drop this year compared to last. This is mostly from sites that have been on auto pilot since 2001 that needed very little work and ratios that started at 1:30 are now at 1:3500 : / the market is just too saturated today,so its time to move on to bigger projects.

Why was it so much worse?

IM or not, it's been a horrible couple of years to end the first decade of the new millennium.
Thank god a new decade is around the corner.

2009 actually went pretty well for me, didn't make as much as I wanted to, but still learned a bunch of new things and created my plan for next year. Looking forward to 2010.

2009 was actually my first year in IM so i can't compare but I can't complain, and only looking to push even higher next year.

2009 was horrible thanks to the investor sentiment...! website flipping is tech dead now! nobody wants to buy ur shit even at 6x monthly profits..! totally horrible year..!
