Just a quick question about actual membership sites. Is it best to have all your content on your site available to them from the start? This might overwhelm maybe?
Or is there another way?

What I did is provide them with one piece of information/video every two days during the trial period. This got them into the habit of opening the email and visiting my website. Once they became a paid member I sent them an email to watch a video/listen to an audio/read a book every third day.

This means that I only had to have 10-11 videos/audios/ebook for the entire month. This provided them with lots of high quality content without overwhelming them. You also don't want to be in a position where they download everything and then forget about you.

Owning a membership site is about building relationships with your members. This means frequent contact. I have support systems on all of my sites and answer the support questions myself (for the most part). Even with huge memberships and client base you can still take care of the support yourself IF you take the time to provide high quality information which answers their questions to begin with.

I average about 40 support tickets a day. About 30 of them are just to say hello, ask a quick question or ask me about one of my Webinars. The other ten are usually more involved but they give me the opportunity to move the inquirer from free information to a paid coaching/consulting session. That's what I'm looking for -- paying clients.

Having JV partners who actively promote my businesses with the tools I provide them with also reduces my workload. It's always important to provide your JV partners with PROVEN marketing tools to help them build your business. Most of my JV partners who work the system I set up will average about $2000 to $3000 per week once they get going.

This gives me plenty of time to explore other ideas or conduct seminars/webinars, develop new business ideas, etc....

I'm sad I only found this thread yesterday and missed the opportunity to get in on the brainstorming session. I have a lot of ideas to contribute.

If you guys ever do another session, please let me know. I'm serious about this - not like others who just want to leech info. I've been working on the outline of content today and the flow of the website and email list.

Script-wise, I'll probably just do something off Wordpress because that's what I'm most comfortable with. For those that want to know what to use, google it and play with a few systems, find out what works best for you.

Regarding business cards, my favourite company is Print100 ( hxxp://w3.print100.calm - make sure you include the www's). They start at $30 for 300 cards (double side, full color) and the turnaround is quick (2-3 business days to print, and another 2 to ship - they include free UPS/Fedex ship from Hong Kong).

To those who are unsure, as grafxextreme has said many times before - don't over think it. People are unsuccessful at making money online because they focus on the small things. Don't spend more than an hour researching what script to use and don't get scared at the thought of shop owners denying you. I've worked retail in a smaller mom+pop type shop before and believe me, they're happy to put cards out as long as you don't come off as rude - also going in there with a little knowledge about what they sell and possibly buying something also helps.

Another distribution method I used this past week was dropping business cards in newspapers. I launched a free website service, as outlined in a past post by boosey I believe. I paid 2 newspaper guys $10 each to put the cards inside the free papers they hand out at local transit exchanges here. I spent 10 minutes helping them stuff them in at least 200 papers. Out of that $20 investment I got about 30 leads - 6 have converted so far (at about $90 profit per conversion).

-- The point of this is don't be afraid, and work with what you've got. A small $20 investment can go a long way. Don't be afraid to spend a few dollars and test different methods.

(Next week I'm going to print up some simple fliers and pay my buddy's little brother - and some of his friends - to flier up some areas around town for both the membership site and free web site service (2 in 1). I already have an aweber list going that has the first week or so worth of content ready to go (welcome email, web/marketing basics, etc - 3-4 emails). Just going to spend tonight working on the paypal integration and I'll be set!)

For those of you who were interested in the FREE webinar I conducted on Saturday on the $2000/mo Membership plan for those who attended a local "Tea Party"-- my apologies for it filling up so quickly. I had even expanded services for 100 people but since I said the magic word "free" -- well you can guess what happened.

Anyway, yesterday I received hundreds of emails from others that they received their emails too late. This is a known problem. A few weeks ago when our server crashed it seems to have effected our auto responder system, too. We're having this problem on all of our sites which are placed on that server.

So, if you attended a "Tea Party" this last week I'm going to have another FREE webinar this coming weekend for 50 attendees. To help ensure you're part of that I'm giving everyone on BHW an advanced notice to watch out for it so you can be sure to attend if this is something of interest to you. Please don't tell others on other forums about this. This is how seats disappear quickly.

Because of the substantial number of people and the quantity and quality of the content there won't be any of our usual discussions after the Webinar. In other words, I won't be able to answer your individual questions about the material we covered. And, I won't be able to provide individual support. Quite a few of you have asked about the auto responder. I use Awake but I'm about to move to Autoresponse Plus Pro. Awake is ok, but when you start to really grow I would highly recommend Autoresponse Plus. (I have no association with either). It's always better to be in control of your own autoresponder than trusting some third party. Awake goes for about $75, Autoresponse Plus Pro goes for about $170 and I believe it's multi-domain and is in version 4 for those of you looking for "alternative distribution methods".

There are a number of effective but cheaper software options out there. There is one I recently purchased for $30 to work on wordpress blogs and intigrates with paypal called synergy something or other. I haven't completely put it to use yet as I am still working on the site.

Can business cards alone really drive that kind of traffic? 20 new members a day just from some business cards seems like a lot. You had to be spending all day just putting out business cards.

I'm going to try this method over the summer.

If you live in a big enough city, business cards can do it. Obviously you'd need thousands of business cards and would have to pay some people to get the city covered. But still, it can be done.

I have been in the most ANTI IM environment you could ever imagine for the past 2 and a half months. As I said earlier I was in the process of buying my first house right around the time we held the skype chat. Soon after the chat I was moving and Ive been non stop busy with my house ever since. Remodeling...things breaking etc. lol Ive only had about 5 days in total to work on my IM projects within the last 2 and a half months. Things are starting to wind down now and time is becoming more readily available for me.

Ive basically got the whole business/site build in my head..now I need the time to put it together...which looks like will be soon. For those out there that simply didnt go any further with this...dont give up!! Life can be discouraging at times but the ones who dont give up are the ones standing in the end.

Would like to get in the group somehow! If that is impossible, who would like to start a second group with me? Will see where this takes us. Wish I had seen this earlier, just read the whole 6 pages today...Can we form group 2?

What script would work best for setting up a membership site like this? Would the butterfly marketing script work?

They work. It's probably just your copy.

Just get some el cheapo ones that say:

Need An Extra $527.64 Per Month?
Your Website

And you can even have different landing pages so that you can see which location was best (yourwebsite/1 = mall, /2 = groecery store). So you can skip the crappy converting areas on the reorder.
