Hi all, as I make my way through hte mountains of information here, I have picked up a few things that have made my life easier.
I'm setting up a lot of Web 2.0 sites now to use to create manually backlinks to my main site.

Tip 1) Set up a separate profile on your computer that you can use exclusively for your SEO registrations. Mine has teh clevver title of "blogger". Set up a fresh email account to use for your registrations and then leave that tab open so it's easy to go back and click your registration validation emails. As you complete your registartions- leave that tab open ( I use Firefox and it has a setting to save all your open tabs when you restart, so you can close the browser, but it will automatically reopen them for you when you open your browser. I have 50+ tabs open and can just work my way from left to right and run through all 50 in a short amount of time, as opposed to opening them all up individually. You should also bookmark each site after you register on it, so it's easier to find if you should ever close the tab.

Tip 2) Download a free trial of Roboform and learn how to use it. It will store your log in/ sign up info for you, so that when you need to register on a new site, you only have to click one button and it will fill in your name / address / email address / DOB or any other info you fill in when you create the 'identity' in Roboform.
After you fill in your personal info., you need to come up with a username- use a different name on each site!- then in the Roboform toolbar click the button that says "generate" and it will create a new, secure password for that site, then click the "fill" button and it will fill in all the password blanks with your newly generated password!! How cool is that??
Roboform is free for 30 days and then (IIRC) it's just $15 to purchase. You can find it on the Roboform site or on cnet's download site.

(a tip of the grey hat to Scritty for the Down and Dirty Guide to setting up your Web 2.0 accounts here: (tried to post teh url to scritty's great write up, but I'm still on newtard restrictions) search her for "Creating Web 2.0 properties." by scritty

Free Bonus: Zennoposter is available as a free demo. Find it on the cnet download site as well.

Hope that helps some of you in taking your 1st steps.
