2 e-commerce websites with identical products?

Hello,

I'm about to create a new e-commerce website with the same products as another site that I have. The only difference between the two will be the pricing and delivery charges.

They will be on separate domain names and homepage text will be unique.

From an SEO point of view, will I need to change image file names, alt tags, product descriptions, product names, etc in order to avoid duplicate content issues with the search engines?

If homepage text in unique and the sales page is on a different window/area I don't think it would be a problem, since you are ranking the homepage and not the sales page?

SEO for e-commerce is not what people think. You need to focus on the items, hence the word e-commerce. You want to sell. Make the product description sweet, short, speak to the customer. Add rich snippets, make sure products are easy to find by crawlers.

Focus on the products, and very little focus on building article for products.

If you have tons of products, this might be a good time to find a couple copywriters (on fiverr, CL, wherever) just to help lessen the load.
