In my current location, I am searching for "matcha tea," and the first result I observe is a URL specified for the English language, even though the website contains content about the same matcha tea in my native language. Also, I checked the page source, I noticed the existing of hreflang attributes. What could be the reasons for the ranking of English content over content in my native language? Could it be due to a stronger backlink profile?

I think the search query being in English is the main reason.

Better SEO / higher authority could be additional reason...

Could it be due to a stronger backlink profile?
it could be. But I still think the main reason is the language relevancy

Sorry my fault I searched for "matcha tea" in my own language. Word "matcha" remain the same but "tea" was replaced into my language. All other results doesn't show english content.

I suggest you to check the results in different browsers with different search history. Then you can come to conclusion.
