Domains that are 2 figure long are usually around the four figures to the six figures. Probably ranging from $5000 - $100,000

I have always said to myself that the length even if it's that short isn't really worth much.
Can anyone give me a good reason why people want to pay so much for it? I mean I can see the value of a domain like vodka.com and stuff like that because it makes sense.

It's so simple to remember a two letters domain. Even more, if you can create a meaning for it then it's a huge win.

Very true. If you went back in time, it would only make sense to buy 1 - 2 word domains that do have a meaning.

Well yeah but some of those I've seen people get good amounts for wasn't even something I would call brandable
Yeah when they make sense I can easily see the value, but some of those darn two letter domains doesn't even seem to be brandable down the line 3 letter words seems to be better in my opinion.
But thanks you two for that insight, do you sell your domains on flippa? I recently saw some domains which where one word domains sell on there for good chunks of money
Instead of getting a valuation from a bunch of people on a forum, the majority of whom have never bought or sold a domain for more than $10, why not head to any of the popular domain marketplaces and take a first hand look yourself?
Another good site that you can try is http://namebio.com/. It aggregates recent sales from various marketplaces and their advance search is pretty good for research. Based on a quick search, there have been two 2-letter .biz domains sold publicly over the last few years and the prices were $1,200 and $3,800 - not quite the $5k - $100k range mentioned above (100k could be doable for a good 2-letter .com but never .info or .biz)

I can't speak for anyone else, but part of it could be that the shorter a domain is - the easier it would be to misrepresent it. For example: login.facebook.phishing.com is a lot more noticeable than login.facebook.cr.com.

If FB.com weren't the initials for Face Book, it'd be worth in the thousands, but it was sold for millions....

Bartosimposonio is right, it's worth what the buyer pays. Too many domainers have unrealistic and inflated expectations of what their domains are worth. The domain world is changing now, prices are down. You can get a rough guestimate by putting the domain in estibot, although most domain sales I see going through nowadays are selling well below estibot values.

2 Character domains are high value domains. You can't even guess their price. I mean if you were the owner of FB.com you'd get a million from facebook, even more.
