2 backlinks for 2 sites from 1 article?

Hi everyone!

Just about a week ago me and my friend started doing seo using the same provider,
We are also in the same niche and targeting pretty much the same keywords.

But the problem now is that it seems like the seo provider is placing 2 backlinks pointing to 2 different domains ( mysite.com , myfirendssite.com) in ONE article, blog post etc.
So what do you guys think about this?
Will it cause less effective rankings?

It will obviously split the traffic if any that comes from the article, But it also seems to give it more of a sense of legitimacy referring to two sites instead of one. As far as the ranking goes, I honestly am unsure, but I would venture a guess to say it would cause less effective ranking as it is more OBL and you arent solely referenced in the posting.
