Just found a new Godaddy promo code allows you buy .com domain for only $2.95/.com domain first year. Worked for both old and new customer.

The trick is with godaddy,that you have to click on the private registration,it will update the price for the domain,than unclick it again.The domain price will stay the same with the discount applied.It is some sort of bug.
