I have been doing a bunch of 2.0 Profile backlinks. Here is where I think I screwed up or will get punished by google: There is 5 keyword variations all linking to the same url homepage. Example:

auto repair denver
denver auto repair
auto repair shop denver
...
...

Will my site now be seen as a spammer by google? Should I go back and change them?

Please help.

Is there any reassurance you can give me? I'm having a hard time not worrying.

Really.. If it was that easy to screw up websites everyone would sabotage eachothers sites.

I hardly see what the problem is. What is possibly wrong with your anchors? Seriously.

@OP:

I see it a little different than the other posters.

Assuming you have inner pages optimized for each keyword, I would at least link to those pages as well, instead linking all to your home page. I personally don't use more than 2 backlinks per profile page.

you sh0uld be afraid. m0st likely all y0ur internets will be banned.

seriously though... if that were the case I should fire up xrumer on that site holding #1 I want so badly...

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. The anchors you used seem to be appropriate. The fact you have a lot of similar anchors is typical, there are only so many variations you can do. The only reason you woudl be seen as a spammer is if your posting like a spammer. In other words in massive amounts everyday and posting massively on totally irrelevant pages. It sounds to me that you're just doing standard backlink building.

You should pay attention to the additional suggestions peter2002 made as well. When your posting your backlinks, spread out the pages on your site your backlinking to and also don't post too many backlinks in the same comments or in the same article.

For a local business it shouldn't be that difficult for you to get a top position in the serp for your local area. Unless the business is also selling over the web, you might also want to use webmaster tools to set the site up as geotargeted to the denver area, or at least colorado.

Ahh, you might have caught me in a mistake then.

I haven't selected geotargeting for anything in a while. It seemed like I had the option to specify a state, but it might have been country only. If that's the case then definately geotarget to the USA. There's no reason you'd want to market an auto repair shop globally.
:7:
If you ever decide to try a ppc campaign though, adwords will let you geotarget to a specific city. Doing so for a local auto repair shop might be a fairly inexpensive ppc campaign. You just need to look at the rates for those keywords and make a decision.
