I've hosted with dreamhost aswell, I know they're a bit shitty, but I never had anything to complain about.
It's just for the people who're starting IM, so they can get both a domain and hosting for next to nothin for a year.

Ignore Mark and anyone else that bashes Dreamhost IF you are new to internet marketing. There are horror stories about every host and registrar that you can find online. The bottom line is the bottom line....you get a domain name and unlimited hosting PLUS the ability to add on as many other domain names that you want at no extra charge. Get rid of your shitty free subdomain hosting and get a real .com for under $10...it's a good introduction to it all in my opinion. And for those that have been around awhile...$10 for a new domain and an extra hosting account can come in very handy.

heard they suck....
you have to pay to talk on the phone with them for tech support (yeah I know emails free but things get done quicker over the phone)
and downtime is a bitch with them from what I read.
I dont know...to me they seem like a mom and pop type business.

Speaking out of my own experience :
I've never had to call them, as I never had any problems or something. Had to look some stuff up 'cause they have their own web panel. And in my year of hosting I've never had one single day of downtime.
Maybe I was lucky, donnow.

No prob...I was writing while you posted.
That is the key to my post above...most people "have heard" stuff about all companies....it's all about weighing the pros and the cons. They certainly aren't perfect but people have to start somewhere...the pros far outweigh the cons in this deal for any noob.

as far as things sucking... I heard hostgator sucks, godaddy, powweb, fatcow, ix, 1&1, I can actually go on and on. All hosting companies suck, but we need them.
now my question is it under 10.00 one time or monthly? if it is one time that is a hell of a deal.

I have been using DreamHost for a while and have had no problems at all.
I signed up under a similar discount coupon and I recommend it to anyone needing hosting.
Takes a bit of getting used to the CP but with FTP it doesn`t really matter.
I also have accounts with Hostgator and Godaddy -
