they are good , but not very good , i have seen mixed reviews so far .Myself had no probs.

Anyone tried them before? 1and1

They have a good deal at the moment.

Free domain (any domain) + web hosting for $3.49/month

I need some user experiences with them before I take the jump.

NameCheap.com always #1.

1and1 might have good deal but they dont give free 1year WhoisGuard.

I have domains with 1and1 but when setting the DNS they take forever to set it up.

In the other had namecheap from day 1 that i bought a domain form them DNS set up was instantly.

What are the Pros and Cons of 1and1, currently?

I'm with namecheap and netfirms at present and no problems at all.

Been using 1and1 for domains for years. They're OK, but occasionally there is a problem and not always easy to resolve. That's why I am progressively going to transfer out many domains.

Not sure about hosting, but I never thought they would give such a good deal, which is good and bad at the same time.

If you do sign up, come back and let us know how it goes!

Good luck!

I registered a domain with 1and1 (well at least tried to anyways)...

I went through the online ordering process but I never received the order confirmation email. So I waited 24+ hours then emailed them about it. They responded and told me to call customer service for security reasons. When I called they said they had no record of my order. So I emailed them again and they told me to call customer service again.

After that I just gave up. I don't want to do business with a company that doesn't have their sh*t together...

I am running about 30 sites with them,

Price of hosting: $12 a month

Server speed it good for the most common sites.

Can call in and talk to a customer serves rep if need.

All hosting company's have there ups and downs but 1and1 does good so far.

domain privacy is free
can only register domains a year at a time
no cpanel, I think it's their own private system
support is mostly over the phone, ticket system is slowwwww

I only used 1 and 1 for email forwards.

They allow you to have set of emails incoming and you can have 8 outgoing so if your selling used leads 1and1 is perfect. No limit either.

I've used 1and1 only a couple of times (that I remember), mostly because of domains, no web hosting. The only thing I remember about them is that they used to be (not sure now) really difficult to work with when it came to domain transfer/change of ownership. And just like NoHoneyWithoutMoney said in the very first post (lol at this forum twitch), I've seen mixed reviews too. 1and1, it seems, is a love it or hate it service provider.
