1and1.com WTF?

Hey guys, so i ordered today 3 month of hosting and free domain with 1and1.com and i have contacted why i am not getting any info about my hosting account, and they told me this :

Thank you for contacting us.

We have checked on it here that the ordered you have made is on authentication process. To complete this process, you need to contact our Authentication Department on the number below:

You can reach them on Monday to Fridays at 0900- 1700 EST.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.


What the hell is wrong with them? I no way i will lose 2 $ / minute to call them to verify the order which every other hosting company activate instantly ???

I ran into this problem last week actually.
It was only with a domain name, but it took 3 days to get it registered... yes, THREE days.
 
Now they gived me email to verify my order. lol to verify the order with an email, from a email which i used to register on their site??? I don't understand these guys.
 
A lot of hosting companies do this even Host Gator does it.

Not sure if it's a random thing, but it's to prevent fraud (obviously)

Man 1and1 is so "awesome", too bad you didn't read the reviews first. But I know you're in the emailing biz so maybe its just what you wanted.
 
Yep, the other day I bought my first domain off 1&1 because I was sick of GoDaddy. What a freaking mistake, it took three or four days for the registration to go through and the control panel sucks.
 
exactly i have once brought domain from 1and1 they scammed me asking for passport and driving license copy, there is no way i can give these sensitive documents to a internet company, so i just left domain and money both as donation saying "f*ck off"
 
The only companies who were asking for scanned documents of mine were online casinos and one freelancing portal.
I can't believe that these idiots will ask me for passport scan because of 15$ ? Omfg...

And what is even funnier is that i have sent them three fucking emails before they replied telling me to call them, and latter after i said that there is no way i will waste my money calling them because of 15$ service, they gived me their "security team" to contact them. Well, for God sake, if you need some kind of verification SEND ME A FUCKING MESSAGE INSTANTLY and don't wait for me to contact you and then give me your fucking email so i can AGAIN contact you.

I can't believe this assholes are such a unprofessionals, retards...
 
Several years ago I did SEO and auto content creation for a portal site, that was hosted on 1&1

I worked on the site for about a year, and constantly asked the web manager to move the hosting to another hosting company, but they wouldn't

1&1 hosting caused a lot of extra work:
pathetic stats - had to install own stats tracking
10 databases limit - site owners would not pay extra charge to 1&1 for 10 more - so had to delete some old ones to make new ones
control panel sucks - its custom made by 1&1, don't know why they didn't use Cpanel
PHP scripts would not work on 1&1, without heavy modding of .htaccess file - even though same scripts worked on many other hosts without a problem
many other problems - but you get the picture

This is not only problem you'll have with them, stay away it's not worth the hassle

They are new, and i am buying them because of one hidden feature that their hosting have, not because of hosting or domains :)

You get what you pay for. If you just want to test something out, it's fine, but in general, I'd rather have namecheap for domain registration any day of the week.

I'd rather have reliability than freebies or hidden features. These are sales techniques to get you as a customer, then they'll make it difficult for you to leave (or charge you for expensive support phone calls as you mentioned). When I last used them, they made it a nightmare to transfer your domains away.

Also, never a good idea to have the same domain registrar as a host. 1&1, GD@ddy & namecheap all specilize in domain registration not hosting. 1&1 have a clunky, antiquated, domain control panel as mentioned above.

As i already mentioned i don't need their domain nor hosting, i need them for something else, which not much people actually know about.

But i am not complaining about the service, i ain't even get access to their stupid services. It is funny that they were replying my messages while i was "customer whos interested in their services" almost instantly, once once i payed them, they are not replying at all. Very funny.

Also i don't understand this you get what you pay for, i payed for Business hosting which is 10 $ / month, for that price i could buy 3 or 4 average hosting accounts with other hosters, and i could even use freehostia, it's free and way faster then these assholes :D

OP, why you even bothered to check out them, they are sh*t, you should have researched first, no one recommends them, even hostgator is more preferable over them :P
 
1and1 did the same thing to me several months ago. When I called the number they provided to me, they had no record I even placed and order. When I head that I gave up on them and haven't looked back since.

This happened to me Last year i ordered a domain they took 2 days for verification after that they told me they cat and did refund
i tried to register that domain later with lovingdomains but i was told its already registered
