I have 2 semi/autoblogs running, in pretty hefty keyword niches. One has been running for many months before I even put an ad on there.

2nd I have been running for a couple months.

After reading more on here about monetizing your site, I decided to give adsense a whirl. So last thurs I hooked it up (playing with different placements now) and while I am still trying to figure out how to read the reports from adsense I see that my earnings are now $17 lol.

So what Im saying, while its not a ton of money, earnings can be made. And I can see with some time and effort, some logistics and statistics studying, and a traffic increase, I now believe that with a whole hearted effort I can generate alot more. I want to thank the great folks here at BHW for taking the time to be so helpful with one another.

Right now it seems the 468 x 60 DFP banner is generating the most hits from my older blog. Its placed at the top of the side bars. I do have some text links at the top that kinda looks like navigation links around my site, but not many clicks there.
 
Good job, there's nothing quite like the first time you see some cash from your efforts. Now step that up to $17 daily and see how that feels ;)
 
Me too having sum autoblogs, but vry vry low traffic :( no earning
 
Good job man! One of my first avenues was AdSense with, as you describe, a semi auto blog.
 
dude autoblogs still rule. It all depends but if it's done right you can have a full on 100% autoblog and make money from it. Good luck keep up the work and don't forget to let us know how it's gonig please. Peace.
 
Ok, just an edit and an update. After figuring out how to actually use the backend tracker for adsens it seems my clicks are actually coming from the text links placed at the top header. Ive tried to make it look more like its part of the site navigation. Blend in if you will.

Currently my oldest site is getting about 500 uniques, and has been for sometime. My traffic seems to mainly come from long tails. My newest site is increasing and is up to about 200 uniques on avg.

Ive decided to place a CB ad on one of the sidebars that has to do with the niche. While this has already received some clicks, no sales to report yet. Also, there is a portion in CB that allows you to create something similar to adsens that I have inserted in the WPRobot template to display on certain categories, this has actually received a couple clicks, no sales.

I am unsure of the policies for adsens with inserting anything that could even remotely be construed as copyright material, however much of what I use on WProbo is press releases, which is for public dissemination anyway. So as of now I will continue to use adsens in side bars and headers.

Any Qs or advice is mucho appreciated. Ill keep updating in hopes to help anyone in my position not make my mistakes, or even (hopefully) use any success I encounter.

I don't understand you seem so smart but then you say you are making your ads look like navigation. Adsense will ban you for that. You cannot cheat adsense. It will fail everytime. You will get busted and then end up losing profits.

Let me explain my reasons for not doing adense.
1. there are so many stories of people getting screwed from them on here.
2. Adsense TOS are such that only a legitimate NON spam, NON auto blog, non-xrumered sites will be approved. I know u say I have 300,000 backlinks and adsense work great. Good for you but there are plenty of stories otherwise.
3. I am not planning on every following adsense TOS so why waste my time?
5. Google owns adsense. Thats right, and guess what, I am trying to make my money and traffic by spamming google with backlinks, comments, web2.0 properties. And then I think that somehow Adsense the same company who runs the search engine that I am tricking will never find out.

Ok for all those being successful with adsense congrats. Other than my CPA sites that adsense would not fit right in those sites, but my other sites are 100% copied autoblog. I'm not going to waste my time with adsense for that.

On the other hand I have made jv with a friend in India and I place my adsense on his blogs. And if I lose adsense who cares. K. Peace.

Disagree, there is a difference between blending ads (which is what it sounds like he's doing) and what you're talking about.

MANY people but text ads on the top or in the sidebar and blend colors. It looks like a nav bar so they get clicks but this is OK. If he went and was formatting the page to get an image above each link or going balls out in some other way then that is certainly against the ToS but from what he described it sounds OK.

I do agree that other avenues may be better, I ditched AdSense a long time ago. In fact he already seems to be moving toward CB which I think is the right thing to do. Just think of how many clicks on AdSense you'd have to get to equal one sale on CB. Choose your products right and another bonus of non AdSense revenue is you can soft sell it a little while you cannot encourage ad clicks.

Thanks for the feedback guys, its truly appreciated. To clear it up, Im using the long horizontal format text links that I have inserted in the header of my sites. I have not altered the adsens code in anyway. I have changed the back ground and link colors via adsens but the "G" adsens logo is still there but they run horizontal along the header. And they dont really look like my theme navigation, but the adwords that are there very much fit my niche. My biggest problem is getting the adsens text links to appear where I actually want them in my header. ie above or below the category links. In no way do I plan to mess around with adsens hearing about how finicky they are. But after reading some of the blogs at G adsens it seems they encourage your to keep your site looking pretty by choosing theme, size and colors that match your site. I have done some BLs, but my best results come from a couple services offered by fellow BHW members. The high PR BLs seem to be the best by far.

That being said, I have no clue what Im doing with the CB stuff, Im not really sure what type of stats I should be getting or if Im wasting my time with the CB products I have selected.

As for the content on my semi/AB, most of what I pull down are press releases, which are public domain, and I write original unique content for other categories. But those don't seem to get many hits.

On a side note, I also use my sites for email capture, using 2 techniques, pop dom, and ultimate footer. Pop up seems more intrusive, but I think Im getting more captures that way, and Ultimate foot, seems to mess with some of the plugins for WP, especially the drop downs on nav. I was thinking of using the ultimate footer for CB ads.

FYI Im now just over $23 buckaroos on adsens lol. I can fill my car quarter tank!
 
Can you list here all sources you think important or helpful for you here? I mean some articles you read at BHW and think it helpful! So you can help other people to start their work, and I'm one of them!

Im not stuck in the AB sense necessarily, I plan to branch out with other techniques too. But I think using partial AB for pulling press releases and such are great. I have purchased 10 aged domains that Im still trying to figure out a niche for. I may just run ABs on them to get them indexed, maybe ill use them for backlinks like a weird link wheel?

I use a full text feed that pulls more than just the excerpt press release to post the full content on my blog.

The items I have purchased and actually use are some Woo themes and pagelines pro. I also bought the full version of WPRobo, pop up domination and ultimate footer ad. All the other plugins I had to research for the best ones that actually did what I needed them to do that are normally free. I create my own graphics on photoshop. And not to blow my own horn, I am a fairly good writer. I try to stay as white hat as possible. However reading about BH techniques is good knowledge to have. I have not manually started to create backlinks on high PR domains yet, something I need to learn more about.

I started using AB mainly to see how content would show up on the different themes and how to alter the look if need be. (I spent alot of time on this learning a bit of CSS and PHP and how each piece goes with what). And I started out trying to get email captures. But after reading this thread:

Ive been reading here and messing with lots of items on my blog for so many months that Im a bit scatter brained trying to remember things. So if you have specific Qs, Id be glad to answer best I can. Keep in mind, by no means am I an expert or close to one on any of these subjects, so hopefully some of the vets here can help us out.
 
I wanted to add here too, a great plugin for WP that I use is called "header footer". If you don't like messing around with your header footter phps then this will insert them easily for your. I use it for any program that insists I insert a code into my header or footer, it also does this per page basis. Ive put analytics codes, footer ad codes and some adsense codes and seems to work as advertised. Its free too. FYI
 
Congrats on making money!! What sets you apart from the average BHW member, is that you actually took action. Most people find this thread and spend months searching for some magic method to get rich over night. Thankfully you realized, there is no magic method. Making money online involves action and hard work. Congrats on your first success! Now ramp it up. Make 500 blogs. You are well on your way to riches, keep up the hard work!
 
Oh another plugin, for anyone wanting to make their site or blog mobile friendly that I am using, is WPTouch. I think it started out with the intention of using it for IPhone and IPad, but its now built for any smart phone, and....you can ad in some marketing code such as adsense. Free too FYI.

(sorry if it seems Im posting alot here but, I really did spend alot of time researching plugins for WP, so hopefully I can save others time.)
