I commented on a blog and now I have 90-144 backlinks (depending on which backlink checker I use) from that site. When I look at it each link is a different specific URL from within that webpage thats linking to me.

Question is, is this a glitch or will these 144 unique links hurt me somehow? It was really weird because all of the sudden I had tons of these links. Before I only had one, from the blog I commented on. Anyways thanks for the help.

you commented just once and you get a lot of back links??? weired ....but it's good ;)

ya once, really weird. It showed that backlink from my actual comment and a couple days later I had 144 backlinks from other parts of the blogs website. Well as long as it doesent actually hurt me in any way its all good. Thanks

Actually it might hurt you a bit
I know there is a google rule about over-population of the same link in a single domain or site. Google might think the links are of artificial, automated and/or of robotic origin and so it may rule in favor or de-ranking your website. I have read this from my study of SEO. Though, Im not sure if this is still in effect.

if I were you, I would give time asking the owner why such phenomena happened

It might hurt you because that will makes Google think that you're doing something 'blackhat' to get that kind of results. But I'd very happy if I could get such results from just one comment! :D

Good idea, thanks for your help. I have been looking at it and it looks like it takes the 5 most recent comments and places them on all the different pages within the website. It might have crawled that site and seen the link on all the pages and linked back that way.

Do you think that would hurt me. Or does that make sense at all?

I've seen this happen a ton of times on blogs I commented on that show the most recent comments or "top commentors" in a sidebar or header widget with the backlink, it doesn't seem like a big deal from an SEO perspective.

The worst thing I've seen happen from this is G might only credit a single backlink to you from that blog and ignore the rest--which is no problem since you only commented once to get a single backlink in the first place right?

Some people have cautioned that G might ignore all the backlinks, or penalize your site for this in some way, but I've been blogging and commenting on blogs for years now and have never seen that happen.

The only noticable thing I've ever seen from this is what I described already, that G might ignore all but one of the links to your site.

Hope that helps ease your mind a little.
