I've been lurking and reading up as much as I can for several months now, only recently been posting and this is my first thread.

I live in a foreign country and provide Instagram marketing as well as online marketing services to clients in this country. I would like to branch out to Google SEO/SEM (Google only accounts for a small portion of the "internet" in this country). I have set aside 5-10k for educational purposes and practice but I don't want to blow it all.

I am reading through everything I can and because everything is new to me I find myself jumping to this topic to that topic. I feel like I need to narrow it down to one topic and focus but I am having difficulty because I feel like I am a kid in the candy store. I will read about affiliate marketing and think about starting a few web 2's or buying a package at the marketplace and working from there. I will read about PBN's and think about starting a small PBN or buying a package at the marketplace and working from there...etc, etc, for every topic.

Do you have any recommendations or tips on where to start? If you had 5-10k for education/practice to begin your first steps into SEO/SEM again what would you do?

Thanks in advance!

why dont you take a diploma course in your country and get offcial education. i will be enrolling in diploma education in singapore on search engine marketing and optimisation soon.

it is easier to learn from an official source, also they charge fairly, unlike those fly by night courses

do consider

These kind of decisions are always hard.
You will probably get a lot of recommendations, but in the end, that will confuse you even more.

The best way to find out what you really WANT is to do several things and after a few weeks, you'll be close to the solution what will be your next "job" for the next several years or so.

Ask yourself how much work do you want to do. Do you want to have partners and/or people working for you? Think about the time you want to sit at the computer and what brings you joy. Think about how you can scale your earnings once you are in a new field.

Affiliate marketing (via paid ads) - probably the fastest way to earn significant amounts of money.

SEO - if you want to expand your agency in your company. You will need a lot of time to learn everything by yourself, but after that, you will need employees and just bring new clients in.

Conclusion - take a few days just for thinking about what you really would like to do when you are in front of the computer.
Don't read anything anymore.

Thank you for the suggestion. I went to school and got my degree in the US. I got some small certifications in my home country in topics relating to online marketing. I assume they will probably help a little bit but I think it is more useful for people looking for jobs. I haven't really thought about grad school and I feel like my time would be spent actually working or studying in the exact area I plan on pursuing.

Thank you for your suggestion. I think this pretty much sums it up. I think I was so overwhelmed with the wealth of information on here that I ended up making the thread reaching out for help. I would read up on one topic on BHW but it would end up in another topic and so on and so forth. I would have 20-30 tabs open reading about every detail in every field. At the end of the day, it felt like I haven't done anything because I would get lost. I would attempt to start on project and end up with 5 unfinished projects.

I will take your advice and sit back for a moment and figure out exactly which area I want to focus on and just do it. Step by step. All this information on BHW gets my mind greedy and I want to know it all.

In the end, it's SEO and expanding my agency to outside of this country (Google) that I want to pursue.

Thank you all again!
