Hi Guys,

Years ago, some time around 2010 I was mining Bitcoin and then gave up as they were worth nothing at the time. I've searched for the wallet.dat file but doesn't seem to be on any of my hard drives - any other ideas for finding this lost fortune!!!

Any tech experts in your area, I'd get an expert to look, worth paying

Did you format/change your computer by any chance in those 7 years?

No, well... I have a new PC but I always brought the hard drives from old PC into the new one, so this PC that I am searching on has 4 drives in it (some of the files going back to 2005...) so I know I defo have the HD in the machine that was used at the time.

Ship me your laptop, ill find it for you.....
LOL:)

Search those files folder by folder till you find it even if it takes weeks and you're fuckin rich.

you remember what wallet it was?
No, don't remember the name of the wallet... I remember setting up a node also did mining with the local PC and found that to be rubbish (but defo mined a few coin) and then also did online mining too....

I searched for wallet.dat but nothing... is there likely to be any other file it may be in? Any way to search for a Bitcoin hash? Anyone who solves this for me and gets me a result will be looked after (if I find a few then I'll send the helper one!)

Maybe you have deleted it? If only you would live near me and bring me that PC I am sure I could have done something.

You could try your luck with recovery softwares (though I personally do not like them).

Press windows key + run, type “%appdata%” and try looking for it there.

You're gonna be fucking rich if you find that file. I would hire a expert to help me get that file or better still, lock yourself indoors for weeks looking for that file

Look in C:\user\appdata\local\* for wallet software names, it is usually the path where most of wallet stores the files.

If you remember which wallet you installed it would be very easy to find it

Any ideas on some of the wallet software names from back then?

Search on the Google mate. I think that could help.
You are in the search of the treasure :D. Make sure to take help from expert too.

For 100 bitcoins, I will start manually looking for the file lol

Edit: take copies of your HD if possible before trying anything complex

it was downloaded wallet to your desktop? or online you remember?

Is it a mac or pc? The most popular wallet back then was the bitcoin core wallet, which stored the wallet.dat file in your app data. I would take backups of all your hard drives before you do anything. then first start doing a search via the command line as root user, for .dat files and/or ´*qt.exe´ (if on windows). If that does not pan out I would start using hardrive recovery tools and see if you can recover old files. Good luck!
