I am new to SEO and GSA, but I learned quite a bit off this forum (many thanks). I came across <EDITED: deleted, since examples have been provided> and they are ranking #1 for a few SEO-related keywords.

I checked their backlinks and they are all CHINESE backlinks and are spamming it to death. 95% of their backlinks are just pure spam.
(no tiers, no high PR, just spam)

How they heck are they ranking #1 like that. Those backlinks seems to be even worse than blog-commenting. Most are dead etc.

Any input on this will be appreciated.

They won't last long but will be making money in the meantime no doubt.

Iv recently just started to do the same when one site gets slapped just build another.

Building backlinks works but if all the links are crap as you say, they will will only last until the next update before getting slapped.

they wont last long but then will get new one so they will permanently last this really hurting real sites

So how those whitehatters feel when they ranking below the spammer??? Sooner or later they will find their way here to learn a trick or 2.

one of the keywords they are ranking for is "SEO Toronto", and yes those are incredibly spammy links.
I'd be surprised to see them there next month

Edit:

The poor fellow didn't protect his Whois information, why don't you just ask him what network did he purchase those chinese backlinks from :)

Actually, I just noticed that not only he got <edited> on #1, his other site, <edited>, is ranking #3 as well.
I guess spamming chinese url sure works.

EDITED #2: More info removed.

Yup, that's his aswell.
If you look on the footer of his "marriage" website, he actually is linking rank dr with the kw "SEO company".. The guy leaves footprints, therefore he either doesnt care much about being traced by other SEO guys such as us, or he's quite simple-minded.

I have a theory that chinese and japanese links are the next big thing in seo. Don't have enough data to prove this but from what i've seen lately, i made this statement.

Guys, not cool to bring this dude's info to public attention.
Try to do it in a way that doesn't reveal anything personal, i.e websites, KWs, marriage...

I hope i'm not teaching you anything here, but WHOIS information is MEANT to be public ;)

Although I appreciate the info, ozzyluce, but yeah.. I dont think its cool to reveal his info here. But yeah.. he didnt hide his info.. so cant blame anyone at the same time.
I have no intention of exposing his strategies and killing his methods neither, thats why I put "DOT" instead of the full URL.

Btw, for those who are interested in what's going on, here are some examples of his backlinks
