Anyone have one of these? I am aware it would probably be a piece of shit, but for $100 a whole laptop? Currently I'm stuck on my desktop and don't wanna blow $600-$1200 on a nice one.

Thoughts?

that $100 laptop was launched for developing country kids, was not it?

An ARM 300mhz cpu and windows ce? You'd be better off with a phone. I bought a dell refurb with ubuntu on sale, search for a coupon it was only like 200 bucks. Probably be much better off.

It would probably be fine for surfing the net.. Im not sure how much else I would intend to do with it though. Theres potential for it to be very very shitty though. Shitty wireless, memory, battery ect... Something is likely to fail or not perform well.

Processor Type: VIA ARM 32bit 300M Hz CPU
lol ^^^
my phone has double that CPU

Well, my phone (HTC HD2) has a 1 GHz processor.

So, I have no idea how you will be able to use that laptop for IM purposes.

Would rather get a better netbook / notebook for long-term use, that will at least last 1-2 years.

You will only drive yourself a headache if that thing broke down in a month or two. I doubt it will handle your IM work anyways.

i have a $400 gateway netbook. has 150gb hard drive and 2gb of ram. fast little fucker. don't know if i would trust a $100 one.

windows ce = no way, not ever

I run a number of bots and programs on a netbook that just sits on the corner. 100% worth the $$

You can get something worthwhile with windows or linux for $200

Agreed, Windows CE makes this a glorified pda with a keyboard from 2000. Even android 1.6 would be more usuable on a netbook for real life tasks like web browsing or email, etc. Plus the apps for ce are....shitty.
