I have used Google translate to grab content in Swedish and translate it to English to use on my sites but never tried to go from English to English via other languages.
Seems to be ok for spiders but if going to use the content for real people one need to make some corrections. Still a lot faster then to have to write all the content oneself

I've have done that before like 6 months back, but with a little twist. I went to German Wikipedia, copy pasted an few articles in German from my niche. Went to babelfish, translated it. dumped it to ms word and corrected the spelling. The bad thing was the articles weren't so human friendly(easy readable), so i stopped using this method because I wanted to give my readers some quality content.
But there was a good side in that. Because the article is not so easy to read and understand, visitors eventually quite reading it. They wanted some info (you usually get it if the content isn't shit, and in my case it was). So now they had two choices. Do a new search on Google for what they wanted to know about, or choice 2 look at the page for something relevant on that topic. As the only relevant thing were adsense ads they were clicking like crazy and my CTR went about 500% (5 times more), and was about 25%
But there was a good side in that. Because the article is not so easy to read and understand, visitors eventually quite reading it. Let's all come back down to earth. This method - even with tweaking from stylewriter - is not going to produce anything remotely readable by a human, so it's only good for content that will make SE spiders happy.

For those of you who are proficient at writing code and fancy a crack at this, we are looking for software that will take a bunch of keywords inputted or uploaded by the user, plus a variable article length in terms of number of words, and then spit out a unique article(s). The nearest I have found to this is Instant Article Writer but because its results need to be parsed by a human and then re-written it's pretty much a non starter.

I use this tool myself for income blogs and adsense sites. I haven't tried the Style program yet, but I have put it in spinner programs with pretty good results. The best language to translate from is russian. You won't need to edit as much. Thanx for Style, I'll have to incorporate it in my article stratagy.

Hahahah, I tried this out on just some random article I found and I'm not too impressed by the translation. I knew that it would get a few words mixed up, but this is pretty humorous to me.
