Doberman's notoriously get their tail's cut and ears cut when they are very young. Mostly for looks and style I think. It's done at a very early age, I doubt they really feel anything. You don't remember your doctor spanking you on the ass when you were born, do you?

I don't remember getting snipped, but I am glad I had it done. Many parents get their children's ears pierced when they are 1-2 years old now, spare them the memory of the pain.
But to be honest, I don't remember the pain of breaking my arm 6 years ago, or cutting my thumb wide open with a box cutter 4 years ago, or dislocating my arm 6 months ago. But I do remember that at the time, it hurt like hell.
So, that's food for thought.
